Bollig seems like a good guy and I give him a lot of credit for becoming more than a fighter but his extension was a real head scratcher when they did it and he looked like a$$ in the playoffs. Good luck in Cal-Gary. Nice move Stan. - dan9189
Al tweeted: wasn't very effective without Kruger and Smith at his side - playoffs showed that.
But with them - an excellent fourth line. |

And small - even reconfigured, less than 16,000 seats and supposedly lots of obstructed-view seats. |

Guess I can't really comment on that, just assumed it would be set up the same as it is for BBall. |

My profile on
Matheson Iacopelli
3rd year eligible wing is a scorer with hard wrist shot and quick release. Strong when carrying on the attack and is able to find the soft areas in the attack zone for the set-up pass. Well balanced skater with a set of gears. So far he isn't very interested in the defensive zone. Committed to Western Michigan University.
Beau Starrett
Intriguing prospect from a hockey family with great height and attractive potential. Has the size but will remain a longer term prospect until he gets better coordinated and more muscle on his long skinny frame. There is lots to like and wait for. He has put points on the board, and plays a tenacious forechecking role. Strong on the puck. He has decent hands and a nice hard shot. Is a very good skater and once he puts muscle on, he may be a player.
Committed to Cornell University. - wiz1901
Iacopelli is a nice pick, although he is 20 yrs old. Big kid with soft quick hands, scores from 10-15 feet in, Muskegon plays a heavy station to station game and likes to cycle which Matt is excellent at, competes for the puck and wins puck battles near the crease and along the boards, skating is average but is strong on his skates and the best part of this pick is this kid plays with an edge. ...... Also led the USHL in goal scoring last year with 41.
Played Midget Majors until he was 18, cup of coffee with Tier II NAHL and then to the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks last year. Seems to be a late developer and was due to go to Western Michigan this year but right now there is no spot for him, so as of today he will play with Muskegon again in the USHL.....I wonder if the Hawks would like to see him move on to Major Junior this coming year because of him being 20 yrs old, if no spot is open for him at Western. Don't see how much he can develop in the USHL as a 20 yr old after having led that league in goals last year.
If he stays in the USHL this year Hawk fans can check the Steel schedule and see Matt when he comes in with Muskegon...... Like this pick.
Never saw Beau Starrett but he's a late 95 playing in a lower level jr league (USPHL) even though he's been drafted by the USHL Dubuque Fighting Saints (Boston's Peter Chiarelli is a part owner of this club and they churn out NHL picks). Starrett didn't show up to Dubuque's camp last month and the word is he'll play in the lower level USPHL (a few rungs below the USHL) instead of playing in the top US jr league, the USHL.
Maybe the Hawks suggest he move to the very successful Dubuque program this year. |

they signed him to an ext early cuz he was UFA and they didn't want to risk getting nothing or over paying him...not surprised he was dealt.
Stanbow and Q are saying Mr. Morin and Mr. Nordstrom the door is open. Could also mean they are looking at UFA 4th line upgrade who can PK.
Don't think this is just about cap compliance....fully expect Oduya to go before soon or during UFA hunting season for future picks. |

Just looked up Wiz's mock and he had neither Iocapelli or Olofsson being drafted.
Cause for concern?

Why do both of these prospects seem to want to stay in their comfort zones instead of moving up a level?
Is there something to this? |
