Shocked Van traded Kesler to a Div. rival but at the end of the day they got rid of the distraction and got good value.

I give Benning credit for one thing though: he's certainly not shy on stamping his authority over this team, even if it means trading players for lesser returns than Gillis would have accepted, creating situations that just dragged on. It's not like we had much leverage anyway. |

Am I the only one that thinks Benning did OK on this trade. Everyone overvalues their own players. Kesler has a NTC which limited Bennings options. Bonino had 49 pints last year and is 6 years younger, Sbsiba is a solid d man that adds toughness and another 1st round pick. I know its not the 10th but I think its still a good deal.
Where are Booner when you need him to to remind everyone that Kesler has had only one really good playoff series (Nashville)
I think Benning did alright here. |

I think Benning did alright as well. I mentioned that several times. Bonino looks a lot like Kesler did some years back and is a solid 2 way player. Sbisa's decent but gets injured all the time which doesn't bode well. And if the 24th gets moved for something better then it might be decent all around.
Is it the best we could have gotten had 29 teams been in the mix? Of course not.
Is it a bad deal when only 2 teams were in the mix? Not at all. |

The Canucks may have cleared cap space to go after Tyler Myers

Maybe it is human nature or glass half empty outlook, but always think they could have done a little better... The 10th instead of the 24th?
I hope we don't lose Shinkaruk. Would it be worth it to offer Edmonton or Calgary the 6th and Tanev if we could move up?
I remember Sbisa having upside but injuries...
And don't understand the swapping of 3rd rounders. |
