That the Hawks are trying to get the #5 pick to trade to Van with their own first rounder plus a player/prospect for Kesler. Then the Canucks are going to give the #5 and #6 pick to Florida for the first overall.

That would be a bad, bad move. Way too much on and overpayment. We'd be better off just keeping 5 and 6 instead of 1st overall.

Or use the 5th or the 6th and a player to move up and pick 1st and 5th or 6th. Either way 2 picks in the top 6 is a hell of a thing.

Happy draft/spam day everyone!!

This is a (frank)ing problem. FA needs to back off and let his hockey guys run things. Him being all over Gillis and involved makes sense when he's planning to fire the guy but these ones were just hired. Let them build a team. ugh.

It seems that making any kind of trade in this league is getting closer to the pain involved in a root canal with every passing year. I can see Benning making one trade, but not finely executing a series of trades involving multiple teams.

#Canucks interest in Engelland is lukewarm - much higher for Vitale, a grinder who had ample speed for the Penguins up-tempo game.

Agreed. It's not like we have a stash of prospects. I'd take the 5th and the 6th over the 1st for sure.

I'd be okay with keeping 5th and trading 6th + for 1st overall, but it would depend on what the plus is. I'm hesitant to include Shinkurak at this point, I'd rather Gaunce.

Especially in this draft. If we were taking next year then you'd absolutely trade up to get a McDavid. That said, the opportunity likely wouldn't be there next year.

Historically - trading both the 5th & 6th is an overpayment for the 1st overall.

I have a hard time believing that one as we have not seen hide nor hair of FA since he introduced Linden. I personally think he has truly given Linden the reigns. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't show at the draft but he will be there.

Whatever do you mean? I heard they will be picking 30th. Oilers are gonna own the league next season.

You hit on an interesting point. I understand that the organization is looking to make an immediate splash to get the fans excited but if we were interested in stock-piling 1st rounders I'd much prefer they were 2015 1st rounders from weaker teams.

I do not see Panthers passing on a trade.Too many good options to help win now to go with Luongo trade. Expect #FLO very active UFA mkt also

I have a feeling that if the Canucks trade up for the 1st overall, what we give up will make us all feel like we just got kicked in the nuts. Not going to be worth it IMO

I wonder if he announces that he's agreed to waive his NTC and take his talents to South Beach.

On another note, I think Lebron will sign with the Raps so he can declare himself King of the North.
