I would appreciate your responses in the form of a graph, or pie chart. Because I hear the new coach does his work solely off of them.

Last years roster was so awesome lets add Ales Hemsky and call it a day, that fixes not one single roster flaw.

Nice hire, should be fun. Can't wait to see what role Tocchet is going to get on this club.

Kulemin
Maybe Downie

My UFA wish list

Bruins: Iggy
Sabers: Konopka
Wings: Legwand
Flyers: Downie
Rags: Boyle
Yotes: Bissonnette
Blues: Ott

Buy out: Malone- league min, 1 yr

More important is unloading Sutter, that is what the success of this season depends on, say whatever you want he is not a winner.

- nbartley9

Iggy - too expensive
Konopka - sucks
Legwand - Worse than Sutter, by a good bit. Doesn't play D or kill penalties either
Boyle - Too much, wants to be a third line guy, doesn't have that much upside
Pauly B - Really? For fun or for real?
Ott - Is beat up and worn down by the end of March every year. His production dips like crazy late. I wouldn't touch him.

Hemsky brings considerable skill and more potential. Winnik if you want bottom toughness and solid play. And then let guys like Gibbons and Payerl earn a spot.

6 mil is not too much for what Iggy provides, and we you have to be kidding about the Sutter remark.

Well, we have our coach now. Everyone can step off the ledge.

So we will seem to have an emphasis on skill. Great.

I'm interested in seeing how that emphasis will translate into playoff results.

Skill in the regular season vs skill in the playoffs are two different things.

Crosby said as much during one of his interviews while in Vegas.

I'm not. Have you watched Legwand? The guy has middle production and needs pp time, doesn't kill penalties, and is lacking defensively. Just because you make a sutter needs a sandwich remark, doesn't mean he is bad. He is better than Legwand.

Reading about Ho-Sang I'm concerned about his character.
- acdc1206

He's certainly the most electric guy that could be available when we pick. Goldobin is a close 2nd. I doubt ownership gives the stamp or approval when they preach grit and character. Not that I agree that he has terrible character or anything.

My biggest concern is his size and time to reach the NHL. While that is correctable, Beau/Sutter are guys that faced similar issues, they're still trying to get bigger.

I would select him over a mediocre power forward prospect.

I heard, not sure how that helps Chicago so I'm not buying it.

I really like Sharp (I live in Chicago and follow the Hawks as my second team), but that trade makes no sense for the Pens. They are very similar players with Neal being younger and cheaper. Sharp is faster and more of a play maker, but I just don't see this making any sense for the Pens. If they trade Neal, it needs to be more than one player coming back, or a younger skilled player who is signed for a few years.

What the hell...we'll even take Saad off their hands as an addition then.

Ho-Sang is listed at 5' 11, 176. Chris Drury, who I think is a great comparison for physique and playing style, played at 5' 10, 190.

Throw in saad and we'll call it a deal.....

If you respond to this, with a "we wouldn't trade saad for anything short of Malkin or Crosby" you are missing the gyst of my comment.

I completely agree. I definitely like Sharp but I don't want the team to get older IF they trade away Neal.

Exactly. It actually doesnt make sense for either team, we need a 2nd line center. I dont get it. But this - There could possibly be a 3 team trade. Sharp to Pittsburgh, Kesler to Chicago, Neal to Vancouver. There would be a few more players and picks in the deal, but its interesting.

You want a much older player, bigger cap hit, on a shorter deal.... Hmmmmm

The other comparatives are a wash....

It's official, Tocchet's here and Martin remains. Granato and Reirden are gone.

It's looking like the goalie coach and Jacques Martin are being retained along with the hiring of Tocchet and Johnston.

Plain and simple, Saad isnt going anywhere. But honestly I wouldnt like a Neal for Sharp swap because it doesnt really improve either team..
