Are people really using the lockout year to characterize Iginla. Id factor in bad coaching decision in with a major lack of training camp as the factors for his debacle in Pittsburgh. I think you'd see a much better player next time round. If you do get him, you trade Kunitz or dupuis thou, Kunitz preferably. More value and dupuis is instrumental for the PK. |

So you trade Kunitz because you signed iginla? Kunitz is locked for 3 more years at a steal and iginla will be getting around 6 mil for maybe 1 or 2 years... |

If I can bring in someone younger.... And get a decent return for him... sure. Kunitz is invisible in the playoffs, I don't care for him going missing, used to be a great player.
Edit: and no I wouldn't pay Iginla 6 |

He complements Crosby so well and his cap hit is perfect for the team. Kunitz for 3 more years at 3.7 mil is 100 x's better than iginla at 6 mil for 2 years |

Now thats untrue... there's a few who just want our team to be made up of goons and 3rd liners for all 4 lines, plus Sid and Geno. A fight or two a game minimum, a game misconduct every week, you can't forget that team comp |

I don't see them re-signing Riemer. So basically I'm thinking we can get him later.
Marty at $2M... Maybe not. The guy wants to play for a contender. Pitt is a team that has kept coming up. I just don't see him making more than 2M if he is serious about joining a better team. - penguins-4-life
No "better" team is going to employ Martin Brodeur as one of their goalies. |

If the rumor is true, do u guys like Vrbata? - YouMeAndDupuis9
I've wanted him for a while... Good skills, decent speed, and I really like him being right handed. He's 33, so I would go like a 2 year deal, but he has been pretty durable during his career. He has a past relationship with Rutherford, and with Tocchet. Not sure if the Tocchet relationship is good or bad, as it was a short, but rough time for Vrbata in Tampa Bay. |

There is no way that Chris Conner is back without Bylsma, right? Right? |

I have voiced that Kunitz is on the decline, but the idea that it would be better to have Iginla replace Kunitz for twice the cost is lunacy.
There's a difference between win now and making horribly short sided decisions. |

That's the only question for me. I think hes a bit old so definitely agree it would need to be a short deal. The appealing thing is the potential amount of production at a low cost. The question mark, like you said, is that he struggled outside of PHX. I almost think of him similar to Jokinen in that hes struggled on certain teams and thrived on certain teams. |

Assuming MAF to Minny is a possibility, what comes back for him. Aside from the cap savings. (Ryan) |

We know you would, but realistically could MAF return a Coyle or Granlund. I don't have a grasp on some of those guys' values. |

He only really struggled in Tampa, and I can't remember the whole story, but he ended up going home because his wife almost died during pregnancy. I think there was some tension with the GM there at the time about him going or something. So it wasn't like it was him just not caring or whatever. |

Grandlund isn't going anywhere. I'd like to get Coyle, but I think that Minny is too high on him. |
