Yea, they arent understanding the concept that Kesler can force their hand

Ryan O'Reilly did the same. He sat on his couch at home and didnt report until COL gave him what he wanted or traded him. ROR sure as shxt didnt cave first

- FourFeathers773

Yes sitting at home for two years really helps your new contract when you become a UFA and to throw in a bonus he sleeps with teammates wives? Bet you can't wait for that player to join your club.

And 4 of those 6 teams are reported to not be talking to Vancouver about Kesler....Your bidding war could happen. It just doesn't appear to be happening this week. Maybe at the trade deadline this year if you see injury need etc... If not then the return gets lower and lower.... You're also then banking on Kesler not getting hurt until then. Will Benning wait and roll the dice like Gillis?

I am kind of surprised Benning isn't working an offer from his former team. Even if they are not on K's list and have cap problems.... Former talent guy leaves an organization - usually wants to talk about prospects he left behind or has enough goodwill left to help him create more demand. Maybe it is? No one will know until it happens and then can we count on real facts?

You Nucks faithful will probably not be happy with the result and neither will the fans of the team Kesler goes to. No one happy usually means fair to both sides.

- tredbrta

Just because only 2 of the 6 have been "reported" to have been interested doesn't mean the others aren't. Not all of these GM conversations get leaked to the press.

Pittsburgh is a serious player in any Kesler talk.
Blues have been mentioned as well.

- Whiskey-Tango

And recent reports mention neither. Some say the Pens are out and not interested.

I suppose you are pining for a Jaskin/Berglund package from the Blues? You think Armstrong will get into a bidding war?

If Benning does land you TT I can already imagine the Nuck posters touting him as the next Pavel Bure next week.

You may actually be on to something. We all know that there is a direct correlation between how much time a hockey player misses and their value. I would suggest that even if Kesler is smart enough to miss 2 years of hockey, why stop there? If I'm his agent I would tell him to whine and female dog at home for 5-6 years, thus increasing his value even more when he decides to come and play hockey again after several years of being out of the NHL all because he didn't get traded. I'm actually surprised more players don't use this tactic.

Why would he give a list of 6 teams if he's not willing to get traded to them? And holding out only hurt himself and the team, he gains nothing since it'll be that much harder to deal him and he loses quite a bit of money. If he had one year left like Spezz I'd say it's more likely.

It's easy for us to say or think he'll throw away that amount of money to force a trade to one particular team, but if I'm in his shoes I don't mind going to a Pittsburgh or Anaheim if it means a fresh start and a full salary.

You guys are the one's coming up with bizarre scenarios that haven't even been mentioned by any credible insiders at all.

Ok.........allow me to simplify:

Benning: We have a trade in line with Anaheim, last chance.

Kesler: But what about Chicago?

Benning: Offer was insufficient.

Kesler: Turns out i don't really want to go California.

Benning: Ok, see you in training camp.

- Whiskey-Tango

End of the day
Vancouver want a clean slate and a fresh start under new GM new Coach and new President
The last thing they want is a repeat of the Luongo gong show
Kessler wants out and he will be out. Not sure where but by this weekend he will no longer be a Canuck
This is Vancouvers's best move in years
If you don't want to be here move on.

Except that Kesler's value is superior to Schneider's. Way different situation. Teams like Chicago and Anaheim are desperate for Kesler. Benning and Linden don't have to trade him until they get an offer they are happy with. Let the Hawks and Ducks squirm. Neither team is good enough to beat the Kings. Chicago and Anaheim desperately need Kesler.
- hankthetank

Yep. I think weather.com can actually register the perspiration today coming from Anaheim and Chicago.

The desperation and squirming is unbearable.

I actually agree with pretty much all of this. It still doesn't mean that Benning is going to get fleeced.

Not only is that just a ridiculous statement about "needing" Kesler, he is insinuating that the Kings are this juggernaut who cannot be beaten. What a joke.

Good point, what Cup winning team would ever need a decent second line centre? Why haven't the Hawks re-signed Handzus yet? Just when teams were happy they shut down Toews line, who do they have to deal with? HANDZUS! Talk about depth.

1) So they would have something to do while he went clubbing?

2) So they could go on vacation from the winters where he will be traded? Closer to his actual home in Livonia.

Do you now have a bat line to the Disney ticket exchange as well as Benning and Bob Murray?

I agree, he'll likely go to the highest bidder at the draft of the 6 teams he's willing to go to. As a Canucks fan, I'd be satisfied with ANA's 10th overall + one of Etem/Rakell /Theodore and maybe some random 3rd piece if another team really makes a push and forces a bidding war..I don't think that's too much to ask for at all.

So according to you guys Kesler wants out so badly that he'll holdout and potentially lose thousands/millions of dollars? It's not like he has just one year left either. I'm sure he's not that stubborn that he won't waive to go to 5 or 6 cities in a 30 freakin' team league and comfortable earn his 5 million instead of doing that because of his Kane bromance.
- Nucker101

And your owners are paying Torts, Gillis, Booth how much to not be part of the organization?

I doubt Kesler holds out but I doubt Benning wants to maintain the perception of the Nucks front office.

New boss. Same as the old boss.

That' where you're wrong. It's either Chicago or hold out. Vancouver is (frank)ed.

Lecavelier and their first for Kesler.

Does Philly have a 1st?

You will just love Vinny. Skates like the wind.

Oh wait. I'm sure Benning will Couturier, this year and next year's 1st rounders, along with the rights to Hextall's grand children.

Remember, the bidding war is just starting. Salary cap and actual team needs be damned.

Didn't ROR get offer sheeted? Different scenario.

Other reasons here Kesler has leverage. Probably not as much as ROR.

not quite accurate...your 2010 centers were: Toews, Sharp, Bolland, Madden and Frazer

Sharp had 66 pts during the season and 22 in the playoffs
