A puck moving defenseman with 4 years of NHL experience at age 23 is extremely valuable. I like him too, especially the upside. Lots of people here don't like him because he makes the mistakes that come with being a young d-man. I look at his potential inclusion in any trades as what you suggested, you have to give something to get something, more than just wanting Leddy gone.

The other thing the agent said is he had a conversation a week ago. A lot can change. Plus, he said Sharp isn't available RIGHT NOW. That was a week ago. And if a lot of media are reporting he is available or they are shopping him, there has to be some truth. I also don't think the Hawks will approach him about waving his NMC unless they have a deal in place. And I'm sure they'll try to send him to a place he'd be happy just like Bolland who they sent home.

It is possible to pickup Kesler and keep Sharp, but you're going to have to move at least one D man (Leddy/Oduya) and pass on signing one or more of the Smith/Morin/Regin type FA.

The stars would also have to align and Toews/Kane would have to take a huge hometown discount and it's very unlikely to be that big of a discount.

We will see. Something in me just has a problem with trading Sharp away after a career year. I understand buy low and sell high, but you want to sell when they're just over their peak. Maybe it is time, maybe it isn't. Still a tough one.
