Ive kicked this trade offer around on a different website, and i was curious how fans would take it...

Kelser and the #36 overall pick to Chicago
Jeremy Morin, Johny Oduya, Mark McNeill, the Rights to Kevin Hayes, and the #27 overall pick to Vancouver

I think its reasonable. Morin and Oduya play this year for VAN, Hayes and McNeill give them propects for the future and the Canucks move up 9 spots in the draft. Hawks get their 2C and a 2nd rounder

Thoughts?

Change Oduya to Leddy and maybe Danault or someone else for McNeill. The Canucks want youth and the more I read here about McNeill the more I'm intrigued. Plus he has an NHL ready body.

It looks like you're trying to keep TT but if he has to go in a deal that brings a legit 2C. s'ok with me

Vancouver is headed into next season without a goaltender. They are in the process of trading their best player. They are clearly a lottery team next year. They have the #6 pick in this draft. They will have a better pick next year. The only thing that works for them is top prospects and high end picks.

Yup...seems like he could be a good one, maybe on the lower lines...still young, but already pretty big and strong...wiz had some good stuff on him too

He would be a very nice add at 27, but i haven't seen him fall to 27 in that many mocks... most have him snatched up between 19-24. Would hate to see STL get him

Agreed, but that's just it. He probably needs a couple more years to grow and fill out a bit (if he can/will), before he's ready for serious duty in the NHL. Can he play in Chicago next year? Sure, but probably in limited duty on the wing. Or he is going to struggle in certain situations at C and the Hawks will too.

I see a parallel between him and Pavel Datsyuk who came into the league with similar skills and they are built very similarly. Datsyuk had to work to round out his game and become the complete player he is today. He didn't get much bigger, but man did he learn how to play bigger.

That's the part that's so hard to predict with so many guys: what's in their heart. Ultimately, what are they going to do when they're making over a million dollars a year, staying in expensive hotels, the groupies, all that.

Yea but that little Russian is build like a tree trunk. Like the fire hydrant that is Ben Smith. Those two can carry 200lbs give or take with out much issue and destroy people down low or on the boards.

Just because Kooga is in the 175 range doesn't necessarily mean he is this shrimp weakling. Some people just don't carry that extra weight well.

More finish would be nice but in terms of a lower line player that can "do it all" I have no problems there and would take him over Shaw all day.

I heard they may deal Denis Savard for Chris Chelios. That could change the franchise.

Also regarding an imminent move.

It has even pumped numerous times that the Hawks would play exciting break out hockey and "win well"

Um they certainly didn't do that during the playoffs and as the roster is constructed I don't see them maintaining the status quo as the "greatest show on ice" which is also a point that should probably be considered.

I have seen the rumor earlier in this thread that Anaheim has offered Vancouver a top prospect (perhaps Smith-Pelly) as well as the #10 and #24 picks in this year's draft. This would be a huge payout for Vancouver. It would give them, as a rebuilding team, three first round picks including 2 top 10 picks. The Hawks have no way to compete with that offer, primarily because Vancouver is rebuilding. They want to get younger, bigger and more physical.

I have assumed Kesler is gone to the Ducks.

Do the Hawks have a plan B?

So that's it. Why even announce the trade?

Spezza is definitely one. Stastny is probably another.

You're right, no guys ever get bigger or stronger past age 24. Thanks for enlightening us.

Good Lord.

Nice try though!

I'm 4'3" at age 24. Still expecting my growth spurt to hit any day now.

I saw a shot somewhere of Kruger with his shirt off about a year ago. Just through regular training and maturation, he could easily add another 10-15 pounds over the next several years of his career. When he does, and the game just comes to him a bit more, he should get better offensively especially taking the puck to the net. I remember the goal he scored against task last year in the Finals. That was a scorer's goal, and he does show some hands and touch along with the passing now and then.

I like some Krugman and Shaw, but so far they seem like different players to me and who is more valuable might come down to what the other team needs. Guys like them are pretty important in a cap world, imo.

Trading that much youth, I would rather see Oduya go otherwise we are going to get old fast.

Not as new as you... I guess I'm just ancy to see a move (or several) for the hawks... and not some bs move that nets a mediocre 4th liner that is on his last legs.

Speaking of Kruger, along with Toews, Kane and Saad the Hawks need to work on his next contract soon.

sometimes the best moves are the ones never made. it's all relative as to what you have to give up, nothing is free. hawks have done a nice job of drafting, developing, and surrounding core with inexpensive players in order to win being up against the cap.

i want a #2C as much as anyone but at what cost?
