What I really hope is we have to trade some youth for Kesler and then trade sharp to get back some really good youth we lost. So we add a great 2c in kesler plus some solid youth to help now and the future. The youth we get back may not put up as many points as TT but maybe make us a better all around team

Keslerhas all the offensive ability that Spezza has plus is superior on D .

The Benning/Linden regime needs some quick wins and the best way to get that is dealing Kesler. The Canucks need to market/push the re-build, if you're not winning then you should be re-building. Both scenarios can be marketed well, but mediocrity cannot. Getting a young forward who's better than most in this draft plus a young puck moving defenseman with Stanley Cup experience is a win and something the team can promote.

Because he is the ONLY somewhat decent asset CHI is rumored to be willing to offer, and yet JJ shuts that down too.

We don't need Sharp, or Leddy or a late first or anymore second rate prospects.

JJ didn't shut it down. He said his source told him that they don't want to part with TT. In negotiating, you never pay sticker price. If there is a way to acquire Kesler without parting with Saad or TT, the Hawks will try and do it. He's reporting what his source is telling him. You act like JJ is at the table.

Problem is Kane likes to win.

It is a game of chicken between the Nucks and Kesler. If he pulls an Iginla and wants to go to the Hawks only - and if the Hawks suspect this - the Nucks will be forced to take that offer or keep him. Kesler could be daring them to keep him. Of course, this is all supposition on my part (about Kesler wanting one team only). The NHL soap opera continues to play out, eh?

Funny because it wasn't that long ago that Saad was just a prospect and included in some of the deals for 2C's proposed here.. I think this deal can be done without including TT (e.g. Leddy+ ____ + pick(s) for Kesler)

I'm sorry but not being a fan of either of these teams, why do hawks fans think leddy can be the center piece of a trade for spezza or Kesler? Leddy isn't even a top 1/2 D. IMO he MIGHT be a 4 but that's stretching it.

I still think that Stan is going to trade with The Panthers. The.Hawks will get Floridas number 1 pick for Sharp and McNeil. The Hawks will trade the number 1 pick , Leddy Morin and another player from Rockford for Kesler and their 7th pick in the draft. The Hawks will than trade the seventh pick from Vancouver for a quality third line D man ( that can kill penalties and can dish out hits ) and a third line forward that is physical and can kill penalties,

I'm assuming that moving Sharp and his 5.9M cap hit is going to happen regardless of the Kesler situation...

...the end result will be more depth at the center position, the only question is who fills 2C.

I am so against that. Trading your #1 goal scorer on a Stanley Cup contending team for youth is an absolutely horrible idea.

Trading Sharp makes the most sense if one takes the long-term approach. I would much rather trade a player before he starts to decline - and Sharp will start to decline within a year or two based on this past years playoff performance and injuries over the past two seasons. He is most likely at his maximum value in the current market this year. Gain young assets for him and hope his scoring can be replaced by either Smith or the acquisition of a veteran free agent
