That's fine...I don't want to overpay for Kesler (or anyone else), there are lots of alternatives out there.

If this is happening as per the rumors Benning is probably reviewing both teams lists of prospects to see what he CAN get from them other than TT or the 10th pick. I could see this coming down to a higher quantity of tier 2 prospects or maybe additional picks if these are the only teams in the running. No Shero or Sather to run things up.

More like poker I'd say, Benning is now painted in the same corner as Gillis was with Luongo. To top it off word is out that the Hawks are kicking the tires on Spezza. So Benning now has to figure out if there's a bluff and how to play his hand.

That would be ideal, though i don't believe they came from any credible sources, i did hear rumors concerning a three-way between Van, Chi and NYI.

Vancouver absolutely won't give him away for B-level prospects, and could threaten Kesler to expand his list of teams by saying "Okay, see you in training camp!". Keep in mind that a good trade is where both teams feel iffy about whether or not they made the right deal. A deal with TT for Kesler could go down like Nieuwendyk for Iginla back in the day. Both teams are happy and don't look back.

Wishful thinking to acquire probably a top ten choice for an unproven and not ready for prime time Hayes. Leddy would be a train wreck on that defense.

Here is an idea that has a slight possibility of happening. I think it would energize the team. Next season around trade deadline time of season, recall two forwards and put with a veteran to form a line similarly to that which LA did this past season. Lombardi pushed a reluctant Sutter to play them, or so the story goes. Would maybe Bowman do the pushing for a Chicago scenario with the likes of TT, McNeill, Danault.

I omit Nordstrom, whom I wish to see become the #4 center eventually. I also omit Carey, whose development I cannot gauge as well right now. Need to see and hear more about Carey's game.

Benning is a scout. A number of those young D the Bruins have were ID'd by him. The Bs have done well with middling picks for some time. Not sure he scouted Marchand but he was drafted on his watch. He will be inclined to bet on himself and accumulate numbers of picks/prospects.

The only wild card is this year's crappy draft class. All you hear is he wants to move up for Reinhart or whomever. So, if it is not about picks... tell me that the Ducks and Hawks do not both have prospects he scouted and wanted to draft. Odds are something gets done and all of this Gillis/Nuck style "our deal or no deal" til the TDL is hooey.

I will stick to what I heard and Tweeted yesterday...
Kesler's top two choices were Hawks/Penguins
Best offer made was Anaheim... 3 pieces= 2 players and a early draft pick this year.

Things could change for sure and I wouldn't be surprised if more teams from the East get involved.

My whispers at the time indicated Kesler wasn't so friendly about Anaheim...But that could change for sure and not sure how much he can steer the deal anyway.

Could be the agent is helping the Hawks get value by lowering the impression of a fire sale (especially if Sharp wants to go). Could be that Sharp is going nowhere. Can't really believe anything we hear at this time of year from teams and agents.
