Someone made a good point here that Spezza might be the better bet because the Hawks are only tied to him for a 1 year, even though Kesler fits better for what the Hawks like to do he does come with more of a commitment. They could also sell Spezza on a what its like to play in Chicago and try to get him to sign for a more cap friendly deal after his current contract is up OR Stan might be looking at something like this to give TT, Danault, Hayes, McNeill another year to groom, with little to no intention of signing Spezza afterwards.

I could see this going down if Ottawa is willing to take on Sharp in exchange as it clears cap space for when Kane/Toews contracts kick in and gets the Hawks a fantastic band-aid for next season at 2C.

Just saying'.... it's a business.

I would have to be too serious. I like being able to post what I want and having Gingerbread cleaning it up.

Are the 1040.van sports radio guys legit or are they useless lile the sports talk guys here ?
- mrpaulish

Most of their hosts and regular contributors (including Eddie O!!!) seem to be pretty plugged in to the situation there. I enjoy listening to Matt Sekeres; not a fan of pre and post game guy Blake Price.

Even though Kesler fits better for what the Hawks like to do, Spezza allows the Hawks to break cleanly after year. They could also sell Spezza on a what its like to play in Chicago and sign for a more cap friendly deal after his current contract. OR Stan might be looking at something like this to give TT, Danault, Hayes, McNeill another year to groom and grow in the AHL before having tryouts.

Al was the first to mention this...and he usually gives an opinion what he thinks might happen, as usually it comes true...And yes it is a very good point, you get a 2c for one year, and then either someone steps up, or you try and sign him to a cap friendly deal

After what we've had I am cool with a LOT...Kes and Spezza just happen to be the cream of the crop.

Getting Vermette (who isn't in league with Kes or Spezza) would be WONDERFUL after the parade we've seen the last few years (though Zus gritted through 2013 just fine).

Makes sense if Ottawa wants to take on Sharp. Maybe we include Leddy and get some picks/prospects back.

And I wouldn't be surprised if we get neither. Spezza going to the blues and kesler to anaheim and TT as our #2

@AustinL_NHL: Report: the Vancouver Canucks have contacted UFA, Ryan Miller's, (G) camp. Miller would have no issues playing in VAN.

Maybe it was Shaw that Kane wanted to play with all along.

And it seems everyone has forgotten about Matt Carey. He could be a sleeper. I like what little we saw of him. At least enough to know he is miles better than Leblanc.

Hey Bows!

All I saw of them both were with the big club and at least Carey didn't have cement in his skates.

First off, the Ana talks are just a front to get more out of Chi. Any fool can see that. Second, Kesler does not have to expand his list if he gave a list of 6 teams.
- powerenforcer

I'm not sure where their true interest lies. I have heard Anaheim and the Hawks are also talking with Ottawa for Spezza. I have felt all along that Anaheim would get Spezza, and for some reason the Hawks will end up with Brad Richards...

Jay McClement's agent says no talks with Leafs on a new contract, will be a free agent.

No need to trade for his rights.

Lololol.

Dont worry .

Nothing has happened yet.

The Hawks could still be players.

If the Hawks are involved you're talking dealing with an East Coast team for Sharp and then the Canucks are west coast that takes a lot of coordination and paperwork to pull off deals.

Until poop starts really happening and the Hawks are not involved I believe they will be .

Yeah that's true. There does seem to be too much smoke this year for no fire I actually do see sharp moving. Still not sure about getting kesler, although it would be great.

Just saw your tweet...that would be nice...can win FO's...kill penalties, and try and have a normal 3rd line again..but from what I remember McClement wasn't the fastest of skaters...right?
