Darren Dreger on the Hawks:
"Blackhawks Hope to Keep the Band Together: GM Stan Bowman and the Chicago Blackhawks are very eager to make sure the star component remains intact for a lengthy period of time. We're talking about how the new CBA is going to impact the superstar model of player and certainly Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews qualify as such. No longer is it allowed to frontload and go with that 10, 12 or 15-year mega-deal. Now we know it's a maximum of eight years so it's not inconceivable that, as long as the salary cap climbs to around $75 million in 2016 that Kane and Toews could come in around $11-12 million each."

Right on. If those guys get $11-12 mil per the Cup window closes after this season. - Hemingways
there is no way Toews will ask for more money than Crosby or Ovi...who knows with Kane but JT cares about winning and he knows the impact of his contract on the ability to win championships... |

JT might not ask for more but his agent might. Why would they not ask for that much with cap rising and a couple conn smythe's under their belts. Everyone assumes their guys will take a hometown discount because they want to win but that almost never happens. My guess is $80M for 8 years for both. |

Toews and Kane will ask for a percentage of the cap, seeing as how the cap is expected into rise significantly, both will as for and receive more than Crosby. I expect Toews and Kane to be the highest paid players in the league. |

Where do you come up with this? You don't know Kane or Toews. What makes Kane likely to ask for the moon any more so than Kane? |

Then good riddance Sharp AND welcome back to the #2C carousel next year bc i dont see how they can add ANYTHING if the Hawks are taking on over 7 mil in salary per year with 19 & 88 getting over 10 mil and Saad due for a raise as well |

MUCH more manageable - EnzoD They will come in around that number ,but the rest of the team will need some love too

If the Hawks end up with the two highest players in the league, then the bottom of the roster should be quite exciting. |

yep...they will become the Penguins of the West....and look how well that has worked out for Pittsburg over the last 5 years....1 conference finals appearance in which they were swept...19 & 88 want to win...I expect their cap hits to be 8.5-9.5mil for max term |

if you were under the impression they would be able to keep everyone and give raises, then welcome to reality. need to draft and develop so there are cheaper EL contracts to balance out cap reality of having some of the best in the game. |

you can expect whatever you want... when they come back and tell you they want $10M+, you're going to say, 'ok, sign here' |

If Kane and Toews sign for over 9.0 they will be hurting the team. I is in their right to do so but the team will suffer |

To be fair, Pittsburgh had more problems than the salaries of 87 and 71 |

B&B is talking a lot about the Sharp "situation" and his image portrayed is nowhere near what he really is. Bernstein referenced a recent Committed Indian article and that he now can talk about this.
What in the hell did Sharp do to cause all of this chatter about him being a jerkoff, dbag, etc...??? |

I think they'll both sign identical 8 year contracts on July 1. They both have the same agent and it was hinted at by JT and SB this week. |
