Stastny
Have not heard boo about the Hawks having interest. But . . . if they do, he becomes an excellent option in early free agency.
A couple of, umm, problems.
1) Cost. You not only have to move Sharp (definitely) but also likely another NHL asset to fit what his salary will be under the cap and the Wonder twins
2) Other teams driving up the price in a bidding war
Would he give the Hawks a decent “deal” to come to Chicago? Maybe, Peter Stastny (his father) and Marian Hossa’s family are the hockey royalty of Slovakia and Hossa has strong ties with Peter. AND he’d get to play with either Hossa or Patrick Kane on his wing and have some monster years as a point producer. AND, he’d have multiple shots at winning a Cup.
The big issues here, though, are the potential costs of a bidding war and whether the Hawks like him on and off the ice.
Stastny’s agent also represents Zdeno Chara, Hossa’s best friend, so there really could be a Slovakian connection here. - John Jaeckel
Think the Wonder Twins give the 'Hawks a small discount each to help land Stastny? |

Makes you think why this Kesler saga has continued so long? So Canucks can´t get offers that they would like to get. Of course Kesler is doing this thing more difficult for Canucks if it´s true that he´s willing to go only 2 or 3 teams. I believe it was reported 6 teams before TDL, right? Maybe Benning is almost forced to lower the asking price at the end of the day. It seems like Ducks aren´t willing to give up the #10 overall pick and Blackhawks won´t give Saad or TT.
Someone has to give up sooner or later. It´s gonna be Kesler with adding more teams to his list, Benning and Canucks with their asking price or Ducks/Hawks with giving pieces what Nucks want. Hopefully this saga ends soon enough and we can move on. |

If I'm the VAN GM
I want Sharp, Versteg and 2014 #1 for Kelser and next years 1st round pick
Of course, I get fired the next day.. But.. Just saying |

I'm on the Kesler train as much as the next guy, but if Sharp is being shopped, and the Pens are looking to possibly move Neal, any chance the 'Hawks could come calling?
Neal is a TERRIFIC fit with the 'Hawks in my opinion. Under contract for the next four years at a $5 mil AAV, which is affordable.
He's got size at 6'2" is a proven scorer who can play in front of the net as well, and he's in his prime (26 years old). I think he would make for an excellent compliment to the Toews/Hossa line. - TommyHawk
Neal is a butthead.
Maybe tied with Dustin Brown for NHL players that are kind of good but I still despise. Not at the Heatley or Bertuzzi level but up there. |

Nope....I think he wants out unless some road blocks in front of him are moved out of the way. |

Hawks will need to sell Hayes hard on the notion he won't spend too long in Rockford.
Bowman cued that up by saying he is already 22 yrs old.... |

That is a good point...he might be waiting to see if any of the prospects get dealt, which would be better for him,at least in his opinion |

Darren Dreger on the Hawks:
"Blackhawks Hope to Keep the Band Together: GM Stan Bowman and the Chicago Blackhawks are very eager to make sure the star component remains intact for a lengthy period of time. We're talking about how the new CBA is going to impact the superstar model of player and certainly Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews qualify as such. No longer is it allowed to frontload and go with that 10, 12 or 15-year mega-deal. Now we know it's a maximum of eight years so it's not inconceivable that, as long as the salary cap climbs to around $75 million in 2016 that Kane and Toews could come in around $11-12 million each."

You are probably right Al...maybe something along the lines if he can show up big in the first half of the season, then they would call him up ir something similar...and if a Sharp trade happens that might possibly strenghthen their case, saying that they need a winger |

Anyone with half a brain can figure this one out:
Hayes doesn't want to be here because he doesn't see an opportunity, anytime soon, on the big league blue.
That's what is happening. |

While I kind of understand, still not a good sign when guys want things handed to them versus going out and taking it. |

Gaborik breakdown: $6.075 M each of first 3 yrs; $5.075 M in 17-18; $4.575 M in 18-19; $3.175 M in 19-20; $3.075 M in 20-21

Dreger:
As a first time ufa, Bolland wants to maximize his value, but 8 years at just under $5 mil per is likely too much for Toronto.

Hell no on 8 years/$5 mil per for Bolland.

Yep and at his age I don't blame him. I mentioned that 2 weeks ago.....people can rip him for being entitled or whatever else, but if he feels h's ready or will be in 12 months or less, it's probably nt happening here.
Especially, if he's talking to Ben Smith who mentioned how long it took him.
I bet he walks unless Hawks free up some rungs on the ladder for him. |

Trade Hayes' rights and Leddy to Edmonton for next years' #1 overall pick.
