Cap will go up...nobody knows exactly how much but it will rise and rise sharply. 5-6 million a year probably

Toews and Kane combined will eat into the cap 6+ million.
Saad isn't going to get some monster deal. I'd be shocked. More like 3-4 million.
Seabrook is vaild...that's one to watch.

However, they sound like they have a lot of D prospects ready to jump in Dahlback, Johns and Cledenning. Mix in a cheap veteran ie Rozsival or Brookbank over time and you can make this work.

These next 54 hours will tell the story.

There are very few, forward prospects, that haven't hit the NHL yet, over TT. If we could get Drouin, or a couple guys in this draft, for Sharp + I wouldn't have an issue if we dealt TT. Other than that I would rather trade for a high end first round in next years draft, but still don't think we should TT for, more than likely, a 2 year rental.

NOW CANT BE TRUE
right ??

Look for Kane and Toews to sign matching 8yr, 8.5 million per contracts with the #Chicago #Blackhawks on July 1st.

- mrpaulish

That seems like a pipe dream. If that's the case, then they surely will be stopping at nothing to acquire Kessler and appease Kaner.

Where do we get the magical cap flexibility down the road? We'll continue to have core guys that will deserve raises and Toews & Kane are going to eat up a substantial amount of the cap space after this year.

In addition, the cap penalties from Hossa and Keith linger down the road.

In a bubble, it's a no-brainer but getting productivity from entry level contracts is the lifeblood for sustained competitiveness in the NHL cap era.

You need to move Sharp's contract with depth at wing. Maybe Neal would be more attractive to Canucks if that rumor is true. Neal + prospect (not TT or Saad) + pick?

- Sconnie

You have the ammo now to go to #19 and especially #88 and ask for a hometown discount. Kane specifically wanted Kesler. So now, if I'm Stan, I say "I went out and got your guy but now we will be up tight against the cap. Here are our options, one of which is you and #19 taking a little less."

What have you done for me recently? Let's add the collapse to the Blue Shirts this playoff season after being up 3-1. Yeah, not all his fault, I know. Recent history is more damning than accolades going on now 6 playoff seasons ago. Then again the 'guins have bigger problems.

He had 7 pts in that series against the Rags, including being in on their only game 7 goal.

agree to disagree on TT UNLESS you get something from a Sharp trade to put in to get a Kesler or Spezza or another PROVEN 2C.

this is going to be fun....at least they aren't sitting back from what we can see from the outside.

So lets blow the team up so we wont do anything in 3 years (first round exit in playoffs)...... Thats how GM's lose their jobs and Bowman will never do that. Did the Redwings ever make a huge trade, during their Bowman days, especially giving away their best prospect? No.

If this blog gets sooo frustrated over losing in game 7 of the WCF in OT, I can just imagine how it would be if we don't make the playoffs, or continually get out in the first round....

- BearsnHawks

2 things...

1st) Moving Sharp, Leddy & TT for Kesler & prospects/picks/young NHL roster players is not "blowing the team up"

2nd) While it didn't involve prospects, Bowman was the coach of the Red Wings when they traded Paul Coffey & an up and coming Keith Primeau for Shanahan

Oh, and Shanahan went on to win multiple cups with Detroit after the trade.

I hope TT is not holding this deal up. TT is still only a prospect. Nothing says his skills overseas will pan out on the smaller NHL rinks. Kesler brings a lot to the table. His size/skill and style of play will open up the ice for 88 and 20. Really makes the Hawks an even more dangerous team. We obviously don't know what players are involved in the proposed deal.. but if its Leddy/TT and our 1st... My gawd get it done. It would be nice to get a depth D back, but not a deal breaker.

If Kesler arrives, it will greatly help solidify the lower lines now that they don't have to play "who's your momma" with the #2 C spot. Kesler's stats keep getting brought up. He had a down year, but that Canucks teams was a mess and he obviously does not want to be there anymore. Playing at the UC will no doubt light the fire in him.

I was responding to someone saying we need to focus on he his year, not the future. Trading, I believe hurts the team big time, in 3-10 years (not the next two).

Shanahan was 26 going on 27 when he was traded, Kesler is 29 going on 30 and, at that time, head coach Scotty bowman tried to nix the trade by calling all that were involved to stop the trade. Also, Primeau wasn't nearly as highly touted as TT is.

Coffey was 35 and the prospect was in Stahlburg's situation last year. Wanted to get paid like a top player, while not putting up numbers. He did, however, have some athletic ability.

NHL top 10 picks this season.

1.Florida
2.Buffalo
3.Edmonton
4. Calgary
5. NyI
6.Vancouver
7.Carolina
8. Toronto
9.Winnipeg
10. Anaheim

Florida, NYI, Carolina, Toronto, and Winnipeg could all be destinations for Sharp and could net the Hawks that top 10 pick they might need to make the Kesler deal.
all of these teams have the cap space to add Sharp.

Im still trying to figure out Sharps Modified NTC. Cant seem to get any answers anywhere

The 3rd overall pick wasn't nearly as highly touted as the 18th overall ? Don't you think this is all a result of the internet maybe?

Vancouver Canucks are very interested in Dave Bolland. Contact with his agent made. Is he the second line centre of the future?

Soooo the thought possibly is Sharp gets moved for a higher 1st round pick that then gets flipped to Vancouver in the Kesler deal?? hmmmm That's a lot of moving parts. That would have to be a three way call where everyone says ok and hammers the send button at the same time.

So lets see, he goes from 3rd to 4th line then becomes expendable in Chicago and the Canucks view him as their second line center? That's rebuilding?

Leafs are pretty tight against the cap. They do have 22 million but only have 12 players under contract, with guys like Kadri and Gardiner to sign.
