That's two - puts him in elite territory.
Except for PP issues - well deserved. |

Here are my quick thoughts
1 Kessler won't sit out
2 there is no reason not to trade within your division even conference if it is making your team better so the Ducks are in play
3 I think the hawks are willing/want
Bickel in the deal to give cap room. Van would get Bertuzzi light
4 Van needs more than 1 piece back in this trade and draft picks are a crap shoot so 2 players close even if they are solid bottom 6 are better than a draft pick

Except for the fact that the Canucks aren't settling for bottom 6 players...it doesn't help them now nor long term. Don't think that they'll give Kesler away just because he wants a trade.
Also, Gillis ain't around to bungle this up, don't expect the same as Luongo..... |

He does struggle getting his shots through, but his ability to blow up a scoring chance is ridiculous. That guy can read a rush like nobody else. Awesome that he won another Norris.

The whole team has trouble from the blue line - too many slap shots, not enough quick wristers. |

Really? You must be drawing on your wealth of coaching experience.
Go find another NHL team that gets 180+ points out of their blue line corps.

I didn't mean defensemen - I meant shots from the blue line - especially (but not solely) on the PP. |

I was calling for Jay McClement in the summer of 2012.
I think he was hoping for a different outcome and a bigger role on the Leafs but as they normally do, they messed up his time there. Even though his hometown is up the 401 from Toronto, I'm sure he's ready to move on.
I'm down as Jay M. as a 4th line C at a decent price tag.

Shots from the point are all about getting them thru to the net with a screen set up (like Shaw does). Keeping them low is preferable whether they are slappers or wrist shots. Overall the Hawks do a very good job of that which is why their defenceman have as many points as they do. |

Board is all screwed up tonite.
I don't think they get enough thru - especially on the PP - too many into shin pads - but I have no numbers to back that up - and I'm at O'Hare waiting for a plane to El Paso so I can be in Juarez tomorrow and I'm to tired to deal with it.
Ogi, if I had to deal with airports every day.... |
