Booth...possession #'s???...Not really a 4th line player...Always hurt and hasn't averaged over 20 pts in a season with Vancouver. Hasn't put up any offensive numbers to speak of even when given quality minutes and now is 30 years old...
May as well stick to players for less money who are younger.

Veteran depth is likely needed but need players who stay healthy and know their role.

Spezza and Kelser were long shots. If the ask for both is so high than let someone else overpay. However, secondary options like Nielsen, Eller, Purcell, Thompson et al I hope will be pursued.

People may not like it but I think David Booth could be worth a shot. Can play with speed and his possession numbers have always been decent. If the price is right not a bad depth signing.

After the Kings series management staying married to this entire roster would be the wrong move. Though the key core group is younger than the Kings you have to consider playoff drop offs by an older Hossa and Sharp may continue. This roster needs to be adjusted to handle 82 games and physical 1st and 2nd rounds better.

He had to overhaul 50% of the roster because he (frank)ed up the whole cap situation in the first place. And he has nothing to show for his wheeling and dealings from purge except a broken down Versteeg back.

He was streaky and injured but had some good stretches.

He also played for Tortorella.

He could be a Mason Raymond type pickup next year.... or out of hockey.

Edit: Never mind. Now that Yahoo is agreeing that Booth may be a good add he will definitely be a bust next year too.

I think it's more like McD over rules trading most guys.

As for playing it safe this off-season, we were one goal away from being in the finals, not much needs to change. Subtracting a close to ppg player in Sharp to bring in a .5 ppg player at center doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. And it looks like Sharp or Seabrook has to go in a year to fit in the raises to Kane and Toews, assuming Kane will re-sign. So any trade of Sharp for a younger high priced center now probably means Seabrook is gone in a year.
