It's possible, but Stan did elude too Shaw possibly being there at his end of the playoffs presser.
I think we're more likely to see "Shaw will be the #2C with Teuvo on the way sometime this season" line this summer. - EKolb13
And if Shaw doesn't work out - backup plan?
Don't see one.
I think (think) Teuvo is in your neck of the woods for the whole year. |

I think a few of us had the same thought and posted it in red font as soon as Leino was bought out
Thanks for the unpopular but easily forseen update JJ. Hopefully this is smoke and mirrors. Like you said, the preium #2 centers are too high proced, but perhaps the Hawks dump non- core "high-cap" players like Roszival, Versteeg, Leddy to get in a younger #2 center. Still 9 days until the draft, and a long summer ahead, plenty of time to trust in Stan - ikeane
What happened to Leino? He has such a good playoffs in 2010 then went down the toilet. |

If bowman signs Leino, he should be fired. - Elbows15
No Stan will bring Steve Montador back another Bowman beauty that they had to waste a buy out on.
Had they won it this year they could have played it back for a year but there's a benchmark that has been set for this team now. One Goal as McD likes to say.

They will do something. But by the "voice" of your words, it's not going to be what you wish them to do.

Eh, I'll buy into the "Kane isn't happy about not having a center talk" when August 1st rolls around and he isn't extended... |

I have zero doubts they will sign a veteran center they believe can help out on that 2nd/3rd line. Similar to what they did with Handzus. Kill the guy all you wish, he wasn't bad (at all) in the Cup run. |

JJ- Are all talks with Tampa dead?
Someone suggested Leddy, Bickell, TT for Pavelski. Lack of Depth killed Chicago, but if Pouliot, or a rough winger could replace Bickell cheaply via UFA, and Dahlbeck played well, I would not be opposed to this |

Not sure if anyone had posted this but there is a very good article about individual player performances from last year.
Read it here:

Don't know how effective the TSN Rating stat is, but:
They say that a "star" will have a rating above 80; the hawks have no one above 80 (not even Toews / Kane).
But everyone on the team had a Corsi percentage of above 50%, which says something good about the possession game.

My guess is Bowman brings in another shutdown center for the 3rd or 4th line. Someone who can win faceoffs, play on the PK, and skate the full 200' of ice while keeping up with the rest of the team. |

Scored 19 goals with the Flyers as a winger, was brought to Buffalo, put in as a center, 0 goals. Sounds like the Kane/Saad dilemma. If you want production, do not move him to center.

The Hawks, i doubt, were ever going to make a big move. Our GM is Bowman and the Hawks believe in building through the draft, not trading your young assets for a big contract type of player. - BearsnHawks
Building through the draft is great if the draft consistently delivers players to the NHL. I'm thinking about players drafted by the Hawks and brought up through the system in the last 3 years who have made a reasonable contribution:
* Saad (2011 - 2)
* Shaw (2011 - 5)
* Kruger (2009 - 5)
* Smith (2008 - 6)
* Nordstrom (2010 - 3)
Thank God for the core because I don't think the "system" has delivered much. Granted, there haven't been many openings but there is always talk about players being ready when opportunities come up. THIS SUMMER is one of those times - the system should be plugging some of these holes, if even just depth players.
Drafting low doesn't help but......is it Q's hesitation to play young players or are the players just not good enough? |

Yup. As I've been saying now for quite some time.
Without completely destroying key parts that have gone to 4 WCF out of 6, you simply cannot make a big splash especially with the Toews/Kane/Kruger/Saad contracts coming up. Also - if you believe you have one of the better farm systems in hockey... do what you've been doing. Spoon feed these prospects into the big league club like you have with Shaw, Saad, Hammer, Leddy etc. |
