Why would you go into rebuild when you've passed the league by?

Seems rather odd right......

Especially after signing Thornton and Marleau to extensions.

It's all smoke and mirrors at this point. I refuse to get PO'd about rumors or comments by supposed FO personnel.

The cap hasn't been announced yet
The FA class still not completely known since buyouts are still pending
The "asking price" from certain players may be too high for everyone...so may or may not drop.

It's way too early to get pissed off about the off season.

The Hawks are a great team and were a good break away from back to back championships. Don't mess with a good thing too much.

Sorry. Those Islander fans aren't giving Nielsen up for just Leddy. They are positive he is worth more.

Hey US, tell me one thing that the Front Office did last season (before or during) that improved their chances of winning a cup this year.

FYI - i do understand the Hawks had to cut some salary because of the cap decrease and they had to sign Bickel ( a little pricey, but it was supposed going rate).

By the way, one player can make a difference. Just look how the addition of Gaborik helped the Kings.

To be precise. Offside is called by the linesmen. The refs have nothing to do with it. So, how could I be blaming the refs, anyway? Unless he doesn't have a basic understanding of the rules.
- Elbows15

Yes. Sorry about that one. I said ref. Me bad.

At the time, the Versteeg move was thought to be a good one. Didn't pan out that way but that's not Stan's fault. Right idea.

Regin was a low risk move and a guy they didn't have to give up much for. Wish he was in the lineup more in the end, but also not Stan's fault.

i was ok with Regin's move, super cheap. only costed the Hawks 300k

Versteeg's move was a gamble, and it was Stan's fault.

Other than losing some cap space and having him a little longer than we now care to, Hayes and Olsen were guys that didn't fit into the teams plans and were on expiring contracts.

Most of us, (me too) thought it was a good move at the time. It didn't pan out...still could but not counting on it.

I would not mind signing Regin for up to the amount Zeus was making. I think he could help as a bottom 6 center or 13th man. Give him a training camp to learn the system, his speed will fit in.

Call me crazy, I'd do it...but only if we can keep Versteeg and Rozy.

Of course it's Stan fault......this has been an ongoing theme with you for a while....

With a hard cap he had to cut payroll.....it's unfortunate but he did....

He didn't add much last year because of that and he expected some of the younger players to step up....they didn't

The trade for Versteeg was for a dman who wore out his welcome in RFD by acting entitled and always being out of shape...and with some pretty bad footwork. The forward Jimmy Hayes didn't fit the system because of his wheels....and on any cup competitive team he maybe plays 25-40 games.....in return he was able to acquire a player that knew the system, the team he was coming from was eating half of his salary, and is liked in the locker room......now he didn't perform and played horribly....some people think it's his knee...time will tell....even after his performance the trade is one a GM makes every day...every hour...every minute he has the opportunity to do so......but I fail to see how his performance is Stans fault???

ya da ya da - again what did Stan do to make the team better last season in order to win a cup. So was Versteeg the man to get the Hawks over the hump?

Don't get me wrong - Stan is doing a good job. Hard to argue with 2 cups. But there is a window and he has not messed up too bad. So the Hawks have a chance. But the Western Conference is no picnic.
