disappointed that the hawks will probably stand still and force a non-2C into 2C.......happy,happy-joy,joy!
They need to get bigger - not goonish - just bigger players that can use their body to get the puck when they don't have it or protect the house better or control the puck easier in the O zone and those bigger players need to move faster than a glacier. They weren't a lucky bounce away from the cup - they had it in their hands and couldn't protect the lead multiple times at home.
4 out of 5 of the last cup winners had multiple large bodies who could play the game with good speed and willing to use their size - the anomoly was last years hawks team.
The last 3 cup winners made moves at the deadline (that I can remember off the top of my head) that filled a hole and helped them win the cup. Carter and Gaborik were huge additions and Zus was lightening in a bottle. So I will keep hoping for a move at or near the deadline has more impact than the complete piece of garbage known as versteeg - it's not his knee, he's just a bad player.
Sharp, Leddy & Versteeg for Eller and Emelin as long as you can sign eller for about 2.5-3, unload Rozy for a pick and resign Regin. Space for a large bodied W or cap space available for TDL pickup.
Building a roster to roll 4 lines is the only thing the Hawks should concentrate on this off-season. No 4 lines = no cup
