Trade Leddy for a 2C, get Soupy back for 1/2 price. - DarthKane
Wake up in a puddle.
Honestly, except for maybe on the PP, I don't think Campbell is much better than Oduya. |

Anyone concerned the Redskins attorneys will try to throw the Blackhawks into this mess following the ruling that the Redskins lost their trademark? - golfbard
No, they do not have to change the logo - so since the Blackhawks are named after a military division, it is not the same. |

Not being an aficionado of Sens Hockey, I've not seen Spezza play all that much except when he plays the Hawks, but it seems to me that Spezza and Hithcock would be like oil and water. |

If that's the case, I hope Spezza lands in St. Louis. |

I'd rather not take the chance, but I'd like to think that with Backes as team Captain they are doomed anyways. |

Why would Spezza want to go to St.Louis?
Anaheim will be scary if they get Kesler |

Sens fans think they can get Saad and Hjalmarsson for Spezza
That's akin to us thinking we could pick up Nielsen for Leddy - Ogilthorpe2
Leddy might get us Eller though. He has been streaky and is RFA - should make him cheaper. Eller and Kane could be scary.
Leddy straight up doesn't get you Nielsen but the right package of a pick and/or prospect with Leddy will.
D? I think Rosi will be here next year and you have to see what happens with Oduya before determining how the bottom is composed. I hope we see Dalbeck and Johns really show something and get shots in the first half. One, if not both. |

I can't see Vancouver trading within their division to send Kesler to ANA |

1.) chance to be 1C on a contender.
2.) right up until the playoffs start. |

I would like Eller. I know he's been inconsistent, but I believe he could be a beast between Kane and Saad/Sharp.
53.2% at the dot last year too. |

I know it's late, but one more amazing Tony Gwynne stat:
In 323 PA against Pedro, Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz, he struck out only three times. - StLBravesFan
...and if I caught this correctly on 670-the score yesterday morning .... he hit .335 over his 20-yr career with 2 strikes on him. |

I make a few of them on occasion.
People keep saying that the Hawks would have to overpay if they were to acquire Kesler (because it's the Hawks) but I can't see how Anaheim would be any different. The stigma of trading with the Hawks would sting, but not as much as playing Anaheim 5x every year. |

Vancouver has already been burned badly by trying to make the perfect trade. If they continue being so selective when trading they will wind up with a similar Luongo fiasco. If they buy out Booth the Nucks will be paying Booth, Luongo, Ballard, Torts and Gillis not to be part of the Canuck organization ..... Brilliant! And to think Canuck fans come on here and laugh at the minor mistakes the Hawks make. |

find a way to trade him and bring back Brookbank for 750K. Would save about 1.5 on cap |

I think if you're a good GM, you trade Kesler for the best overall deal regardless of who that is. I'm a Kesler fan but I don't think he's an elite player that would be haunting a team for years if they had to face him a lot.
I think GM's make this mistake a lot. |

Perhaps, but I'm simply talking about the perception that they would gouge the Hawks to get Kesler, but not Anaheim? I find that hard to believe |

The Toronto blogger is putting out a rumour of Berglund for Kadri then moving Backus to 2C making Mr. Half Brain Kadri the Blues number one. Hopefully it's a done deal. |

I agree. I think they'd obviously prefer to trade him to the East but if a WC team has a much better offer on the table, they'd be silly not to take it especially after all their botched trades the past few years. |

The Bruins are taking a $4.75 million cap penalty for next season...
http://www.csnne.com/bost...g-475-million-cap-penalty - EKolb13
So Iginla got a contract last year including a $3MM bonus for playing 10 games - which counts against this year's cap.
Certainly too simple but: why don't the boys sign $6MM contracts with $3MM in bonuses for each year?
Their first year cap hit would be only $6MM each; after that it would be $9MMeach year, but the cap would be going up after the first year too. They'd get hit with $3MM the year after they retire but who cares?
Must be some reason it would be disallowed - but if Iginla could do it.... |

I'm sure that was happening before the new CBA came into effect. Now it's just legal... - EKolb13
Probably legal before - just can't sign until July 1. |
