Not really sure why this isn't talked about more.
Saad - Toews - Kane
Hossa - TT - Sharp
Bickell - Krugs - Shaw
Smith - Outsider not here yet / Rockford guy- Bollig
It would seem to work money wise, not a bad line up especially if that 4th line C can be a good PK guy. - vabeachbear
You are missing Versteeg, and you have to fit all that under the cap. I assume then you are trading Oduya on the back end? |

He was pretty good until Kronwall effectively ended his career.

Yep....I screamed out in vain and pounded 3 beers in between periods. That was a crazy game...hawks blew a huge lead, Builn rips his nut sack, Huet plays well, Pahlsson behind the back to Sharp for the winner, and I thought they had a chance.
Then Hossa ran a train on them in game 4.
Damn Marty was good that year. Sure it had nothing to do with being a UFA at years end..... |

Why in the world would anyone take on the joke of a contract the leafs gave Phanuef, doesn't make any sense. |

Because Tallon only has two D men locked up, one of which is Jovanovski. He has five free agent D men due contracts for next season. Might just be looking for some stability on the blue line. |

Why would salary be an issue, no one except TT in who isn't on the team already.
TT makes less or about the same as Handzus. New 4th liner shouldn't be more than Brookbank made. Bollig's going to make more but isn't the cap going up some next year?
Personally I'd put Versteeg in the press box, or play him instead of Bollig. |

You know what really pissed me off to no end?
When Leino either got selected as rookie of the year or was at least in the running for it when he got traded to Philly.
I was so mad, because i had seen him play a bunch of games for the Redwings prior to that, and he was like 28 or something crazy. (frank) Leino and the Redwings.
And philly too haha (philly isnt so bad, I just get angry when i think about this for some reason)
EDIT: now that i think about it, he might have just been getting some paise about being a high scoring rookie in the playoffs (not rookie of the year). But still the guy was almost 30 or something AND he had played in the playoffs with the Redwings before. I could be wrong - BlazinMike
Yeah I remember that, too during the philly series. Doc Emerick kept saying about the highest scoring rookie during the playoffs. Yeah he was at least 26 maybe 28 at the time |

You only have about 4 million cap space to resign Smith, Morin, add in Teuvo's deal, sign a back up goalie AND add a veteran center.
Not a lot of room. |

He's a walking injury list. I think he blew out an achilles jumping off the bench. That has nothing to do with Kronwall.
He got his pay day...and he has continually tailed off since |

My guess is that Stan makes some moves to free up cap space. I think Rozsival will be moved at the draft, maybe Morin too. |

It would be like Toronto to dump Phaneuf after paying him like he was a cornerstone of the franchise.
As far a Thornton....I hear the same.

ya 4.67 but true it isn't a ton. I'm not big on trading Oduya, but I wouldn't mind Rosy and Rundblah gone, that would free up 3 mill additional. You could get brookbank back cheaper and Dahlbeck should be cheap.
Not saying they shouldn't go out and get a top Center, but mostly making a point about Kane getting to play with a real C and TT being somewhat protected with Sharp and Hossa.
I'm also trying to be real about the dollars and the cap. |

Not to mention making him Captain and the face of the franchise!
I'm sure Shanny will fix this like he did with the cheap shots in the league |

Rundblad isn't going anywhere, Stan just acquired him. Rozy will likely go however. |

Upon closer review though, his issues are more cerebral than orthopedic. Can't blame bad passes and turnovers in the offensive zone on the knee. If you can trade him you trade him. I'm not a Zawaski fan, nor as insistent about Versteeg as he is, but I just think the team would have been better off with the next best option at the time, Morin, playing for him. - Return of the Roar
For $2 million Versteeg isn't a huge issue...He could be traded if all else fails.
If his mobility was limited it's hard to say what total affect that had on his game.
He seemed to press and the Hawks really didn't have a 4th line for most of the playoffs and that wasn't all on Versteeg.

That tweet earlier about Brookbank perhaps coming back is interesting. The 6/7 figure to be Brookbank, Rundblad and Dahlbeck. That is one too many, unless Dahlbeck rides the Rockford Express every time he doesn't play. Smells to me that Leddy or Oduya are gone; Brookbank, Dahlbeck and Rundblad are 5/6/7. |

Something interesting for all you TT fans out there: Was at the Chicago LockerRoom store this afternoon, and found that you can now purchase your #86 tee shirt jersey in the mainstream stores.
Anyone want to doubt that TT will be in the lineup for the big club next year?
BTW: Love the conversations about Kane on here. Not sure where I fall on the "he deserves a good 2C" vs the "he's selfish" argument, but I have had thoughts along both lines.
My biggest concerns are still the cap and the cup. How do we keep our talent so we can win a cup and still stay under the cap? Jettisoning Sharp and/or Leddy/Oduya can only do so much... And some of the names being bandied about on here come with BIG price tags. Will Stan be able to make the moves to get us both under cap and winning a cup? I think this is the big question.
It's going to be one heck of an off season. |

Brookbank really stepped up during Seabrook's suspension. I think there's a good chance he'll return if Rozsival is dealt. But I agree that Dahlbeck and Rundblad coudl rotate as the 6th D, or I wouldn't be surprised if Stan signed another free agent on a 1 year deal. |

Wilson has already told Havlat he's not returning to San Jose next season. The Sharks have both their Compliance Buyouts and I doubt he'll find a trading partner to take Havlat. Marty will be bought out but he'll find employment somewhere. - DarthKane
The KHL is expanding. Marty will meet their criteria of playing at least 5 games a season before going on IR. |

besides the UFA, he was playing with more confidence and a man possessed as he seemed to be a little hesitant after shoulder surgery. Which messed up the previous season.
That line was fun to watch. |

I'd prefer Sharp for Neilsen. That leaves enough cap room to add a depth C for the bottom 6.
