Well, there seems to be a few of them out there, but I don't know for sure where it originated. It does seem like the kinda decision that Holmer has become known for though... I'm happy for you guys that he's no longer in charge - lumlums

When Ek says "Flyers, Leafs talking. It's NOT about Schenn for Phaneuf," I'll start to worry. - PhillySportsGuy
I have to say it would be amazing if the flyers traded the good Schenn to Toronto after getting fleeced for the terrible Schenn from them |

But those two names would cost us more because they have friendlier cap deals compared to Dion. And as you mentioned are younger. Yandle would be great because he's offensively great which we could use. But didn't we have a chance to trade JVR for him? And instead we did Schenn? I can't tell if that was rumor
CONFIRMED: flyers rejected An offer Yandle for JVR - arichardson22
Oh ya I heard that and yes, that was clearly a mistake. Yandle for JVR was a much better deal for Philly then Luke Schenn. Especially when you consider the Leafs were barely using Schenn and may have bought him out meaning the Flyers could have gotten him for nothing had they been patient. I believe Homer was hoping it would spark Brayden's growth having his brother around. I guess it would depend on the prospect but I think Philly could get Shattenkirk for both Schenn's and our first this year if they wanted too. The Blues need some more offense (That Perron trade was terrible) However I really think that Schenn's due for a breakout season soon, especially when they get rid of Vinny and play Brayden at center with consistant wingers and maybe sometime on that first PP instead of Hartnell. |

I still wonder what it would take to pry Gormley out of Pheonix, especially as Yandle, OEL and now Murphy make it hard for him to crack that line up. |

I'm a flyers fan you moron - arichardson22
LOLLLLLL well I am a leaf fan but honestly Phaneuf is a good player, I don't know why he started not fighting at all this year but I know he was injured since like november, same with Cody Franson but they played all year, Phaneuf played key minutes in all situations and EVERYONE played bad so he really can't be singled out, give him a better D partner and I would keep him in a heartbeat, but if Nonis actually tries to trade him to philly for SOME reason which I think is dumb anyway, I hope we get the Schenn Brothers, it is fair really but I would like to Keep Phaneuf and have Kadri as our #2 , I'm so sick of trading young drafted players, keep Kadri, and Gardiner FFS at least one more year, we ALL know were not winning the cup next year or the next really I'm fine with letting some players grow as long we have entertaining hockey to watch in the meantime and hopefully 1st or 2nd round playoffs. |

Yeah I agree I'm not sure why people rip and single out Dion. He's a great defenseman that every team would take gladly on their team (besides the contract) |

Yeah fair enough, but if he went UFA this year he would have gotten that, who knows really on open market maybe he would have gotten more with the cap going up. I think we paid no more than market value, just need to surround him a better d partner , but Gunnarsson was playing injured also and underwent surgery so who knows maybe a fresh start and no injuries will be enough to literally turn the group we had last year around. Niskanen will be getting Phaneuf money and I don't really think that's deserved especially after one pretty good season. |

Cam Ward+ for Marleau +
I'd rather have Niemi. At least he can stay healthy. And Cam Ward lost his job to a 2nd year goalie. Justin Peters also outplayed the guy. If the Sharks want to add a goalie it will be Ryan Miller
Boyle
Would sign on with Pittsburgh right away if they do acquire him from the Isles.
Niskanen
Is as good as gone.
Phaneuf & Philly
Lol Ya right. They are so up against the cap that this move would make little to absolutely NO SENSE. Unless the Leafs are taking back salary on that contract along with either Lecalvier or Hartnell this idea is total fabrication.
Mike Richards to NJ, NYI, Chicago or Anaheim?
NJ & NYI are the only two teams I see out of the 4 mentioned above interested in Richards. Chicago and Anaheim need a scoring 2nd line center and Richards no longer possesses that top two center scoring wise.
The Panthers staying pat with pick
The Cats were never going to trade that pick. Like always it'll take a Kings ransom to get that pick. Ekblad is Florida bound.
Spezza & The Blues
He'll be in a Blues uniform or a Ducks uniform come next season.
Kesler and Anaheim gaining possibility...
Like Spezza he'll be in a Blues uniform or a Ducks uniform come next season.
Flyers looking at Brian Boyle
I doubt they have the cash to swing this. They still need a good defenseman.
Predators serious about Mason Raymond..
This would be a dumb move IMO. The Predators should stay away from those 2nd/3rd line forwards. They should focus on those 1st line scorers. Vanek and Moulson are the guys they should look at.
On Spezza
Just wanted to share this. I read that league sources claim the Calgary Flames have made an offer for Senators center Jason Spezza. Their offer (believed to be” Jiri Hudler, Mikael Backlund, possibly Dennis Wideman and one of their several second and third-round picks”) |

They would never make the deal Ek is proposing. I wouldn't even trade Schenn for Phaneuf, let alone, Schenn+ |

To be honest, the Flyers would have more interest in a guy like Gardiner than Phaneuf. |

please don't overrate couturier like that. Please. - JVR_42_PK81
Let me just say that I like Reilly a lot, but the Leafs really shielded him a lot. Only Kadri saw more offensive zone starts and his QoC was pretty weak too.
Couturier played against the other team's top lines and had to start more often in the defensive zone than any Flyer not named Adam Hall.
He received very little PP time and spent 3+ minutes per night on the PK. Analytics also rated him as the #1 PK forward in hockey.
http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/402290[url]
Despite all this, he still managed 39 points playing mostly with Matt Read and various third line talents.
He's still only 21 and hasn't scratched the surface of his offensive potential either. |

He will be good but won't be as good or as valuable as Rielly.

I dont see how you can make that judgement right now, but ok |

Easy. I read that cotorier projects as an above average first line center. Safley as a below average center. I read that Rielly projects as a all star defensmen and safely as a top line defensmen. And top defensmen are more valuable than top centers. |
