so Montreal, a team that for years--YEARS--has been looking for players with size who can put the puck in the net, has no interest in bringing back Thomas Vanek, AND they want to unload Max Pacioretty. smells like a little bit of bullpoop in all that. Pacioretty is going nowhere. in case no one has notices, $4.5 million forwards who can score 35-40 goals are quite rare.

Just for a second, think of what we could get for Pacioretty. If he keeps disappearing during the playoffs, will his stock remain as high as they are now, after a 39 goal season?
