LA had their choice down to either Doughty or Bogosian, and they picked the smaller guy.
At the time of the draft, Doughty was 6'0 and had been struggling with his weight... his nickname in junior was "Doughnuts". - Tomahawk
Better than "Puffnuts." |

An exercise in futility my friend. Don't do it to yourself. |

So when does Timonen announce if he's retiring? After the draft? After FA?
when do you think we will hear something? - FlyersGrace
If he gives a crap about the team he'll give them a heads up rpior to the draft. |

According to my CORSI charts, there are 31 NHL teams with better defensemen. - BulliesPhan87
But you have to factor in QoC, his Zodiac sign, number of people on the team whose last names start with the same letter, and the amount of ice cream he can eat before getting a brain freeze. |

If Timonen is about winning, there other other teams a lot closer than the Flyers. Let's see him take a 2 million dollar deal with a contender. |

Maybe he'd rather try to win with the team he's played for for the last 6 years and not go Cup chasing. Just a thought. |

Perhaps. I can see a legit contender being interested in Timonen playing on the PP a bit. Third pair minutes 13-15 a game. |

The impression I was left with was that he was kind of tied to the area for the time being. But I could be wrong. |

6'0 isn't small. And he was drafted when he was 18. Doughty is not one of those defenseman who fit into the class of players where there is concern about their size.

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, asked by a Fox Sports West’s Patrick O’Neal to share his New Year’s resolution, replied, “Stop eating at McDonald’s.” Doughty laughed and added, “Not going to happen.”

No it's not. But there weren't question marks about his frame and if he would be big enough to the point where it hurt his draft rankings. If anything there was some concern about being overweight. So using Doughty as an example of a team taking a small puck mover, was a bad example in my opinion.

I'd expect he'll announce he's coming back ( ) by the draft... June 30 at the latest. - Tomahawk
I thought the plan was that he signs after the first day of the season is passed, for reasons to do with LTIR money. |

Will the Kings close it out tonight and sweep for the Cup? Or will the Rangers fight back and take a game? |

Unless there is a rule that I'm unaware of, that would be a very smart move for the Flyers. Sign Timonen to a PTO, and then sign him right before the first game, after placing Pronger on LTIR. Again, not sure if there is a deadline to sign a player to an SPC when he's in camp on a PTO.
