With RNH & Yak, they would have been better off trading down & grabbing decent D with the pick and also reaping sweet extra assets for said process.

disagree. every call the Oilers have made in the last 7 years has been right. they have drafted well, hired the right coaches and GMs and made a string of terrific trades and signings. this is what i have learned from Hockeybuzz's Oiler fans. |

i once tried to make the argument that maybe Murray would have been the better pick instead of Yakupov. got laughed at and then had it explained to me that the Oilers were loaded with high end defensive prospects at the time. |

You never know when the pick is gonna be a generational talent. Nobody was sure about Stamkos after his 1st year. Also Alexandre Daigle was a "generational talent" when drafted.
