To some degree, yes. I can't presume to say he doesn't care...or that he's not focused or paying attention... but effort is easier to see out there...

Tired of this "size and physicality" narrative.

The Kings are not winning because they are grinding. They are winning because they are a skilled team that can break out of their zone, enter the offensive zone with the puck and shoot more often then their opponents.

It's not Regehr, Green, Mitchell, Brown and Richards that make this team.

It's Doughty, Kopitar, Carter, Williams, Toffoli and Gaborik.

and of those players, which are under 6 feet? which of those players get physically dominated? that's the point. these guys are skilled, yes, but they have the size to maintain possession of the puck when getting attacked by defenders, and the size to gain position in the slot and in front of the net. size and physicality is not just about crashing the boards and being aggressive, it's about being able to withstand that kind of stuff. that's what makes LA so good, is that they can do both.

in his first playoff experience, he separated his shoulder in game 2.
in his second, he struggled with his confidence quite a bit. he put a bit too much pressure on himself to be the guy, knowing that he was the guy. it's a lot to handle for someone who doesn't have experience. I know people will say, well, that's what defines made to play in the playoffs or not, but I think this is just another stepping stone of adversity for him. I'd bet he's great in his next playoffs.

Not intended to be a slight to you, but it doesn't matter what you think.
He's almost a ppg player, he's got great hockey sense, and his compete level was tremendous in the playoffs. He's got a cap-friendly contract. There are more than a few teams who could use him -- especially those who are paying too much for players who do less.

On his own, he could definitely fetch an excellent prospect, or even a 1st round pick. Packaged, as he's likely to be if he's traded, who knows...
