They need a couple of wingers and at least 1 dman.

If they fix that, they could become a pretty serious team.

- Pecafan Fan

they get seidenberg back and they're pretty serious already. they just need to get their heads fixed before they play the canadiens. or not.

To be honest, very few teams in the East have much size. It's much of a skilled, speed game. And against the Bruins, who are a bigger team, Montreal was able to frustrate them by winning races to pucks. The problem is, you'll never win the cup that way. Boston was viewed as the only team from the East that could challenge whatever team came out of the West because those teams have size but they aren't painfully slow like the Bruins. And their goaltending is better. And they have far more structure. And more depth. Basically everything's better. The danger for Montreal is if the currently weak Eastern conference has a few teams that improve (Columbus, Detroit, both Boston and the Pens are going to make some changes), Montreal's going to have a tough time winning many playoff series when they don't have the size to create a lot of trouble in the offensive zone, and they don't have good enough defensive structure to limit chances going the other way. Even with great goaltending, eventually you'll run into a team that will just plant guys in front of your net. When that's the case it doesn't matter how good your goalie is, if he can't see the puck or if it gets deflected while going through traffic, there isn't much he can do.

I remember when Welch struck out Reggie Jackson in 1978 World Series. He was a young phenom back then.

Yeah, I think the bottom 6 is decent, they need to add two big wingers. And a dman to play with PK.

Ok. Well I think you guys actually have a real good team that can compete for a Cup, just need a D man & probably one really good winger. But what do I know I think the Rangers are actually a decent team.
- mdw7413

I think the Rangers and the Habs are in a similar position at the F (no real cornerstone, but good depth and 3 lines that can produce) and G (BL will tell you that Price >>>>>>>>> Lundqvist but don't mind him) positions.

Even though it was a winnable match-up, the Rangers' good top-3 at D are what got them over the top in the Habs series IMO. The Habs had Subban and 5 3rd pair Ds (including game 110-Markov)

if eller keeps playing like he did in the playoffs, if bourque plays like he did, if weise plays like he did, if prust can actually stay healthy and if bergevin can find a couple of vanek types not to mention a true #2 dman then you might be onto something.

They need a "Seidenberg" type dman to play with Subban.

That alone would help. A lot.

Now, I never said it was possible for Bergevin to find those players.

I just listed what I think they need.

Yup they were just lucky. Tired excuse

I agree with a few of your points but why come on here now and wax poetic about how bad they are. They have a young fast team. They were without Kreider and Mac was recovering from injury still against Flyers. Kreider returns and they win 3 of 4 to beat the Pens. The goalie situation in Montreal had little to do with the outcome, that's just a tired Canadian fan excuse, Tokarsky prob played better than Price would have. They came up against a team in the Kings that is really very good and have gotten some breaks against Rangers. They have not been outclassed at all. But Go ahead be negative about the team, if that's what you want. I know I really enjoyed this run. Beating Philly, the Fems and Montreal... that was fun. Wish we won the first three games in this series, but last I checked there is still a game tomorrow, and when the puck drops I am going to root every bit as hard as I have.
