As you said at the end of the blog, there are bigger guys in the pipeline that will be around in the next few years...not all of them will make it, but the Habs have been drafting a few bigger guys up front that are interesting.
They drafted a few other small skilled guys as well (Lehkonen, Andrighetto, Reway). Big skilled guys are always gone at the draft after the 15th pick, and the Habs mostly never draft below that. I'd rather have the small skilled player than the big one that can barely skate.
That being said, very eager to see how De La Rose will look at training camp. |

Game three of the Habs series with New York was an ugly, grind it out win. It was the type that probably had ardent Therrien bashers frustrated--as they know this is the kind of game Therrien wants his small, speedy team to play. Had they been equipped to play that way through the rest of the series, the outcome may have been different.
not sure what you mean by this. the next game was pretty ugly as well. Montreal got it to OT. if Galchenyuk doesn't ring one off the bar late in regulation... point is, they were in position to win that game and tie the series. can't argue with their game 5 either. game 6 was a stinker but i don't think you can fault how they played between games 3 and 6. |

I just mean that game 3 was a whole lot of nastiness from the Canadiens, and they aren't built to play that way all the way through. They have some players that can, but not enough.
I agree with your points on games 4 and 5, for sure. |

look around the NHL and see how many big guys can skate well. they're not necessarily super talented, but they can skate. you can draft big boys who can skate outside the top 15 (ie de la Rose). |

To think Gaborik and Williams would be major factors in a Stanley cup win. |

the Prust suspension and then the Weise injury certainly sapped them of what little jam they have, yeah. |

The Habs top 6 wingers need help.
Eller/Plek could possibly fetch a legit top 6 winger with size. |

you can't teach a guy to get bigger
and you can't teach hockey sense-- experience is the only thing that improves that.
but if you have a big guy with an NHL stride; a big guy willing to inflict damage and pay the price, you can develop the rest of his skills...

Nastyness is simply not in the Montréal Canadiens culture.
The best would be to have a team big and physical enough to not suffer from a series against a nasty rival.
I think the Habs needs to follow Hawks style. Speedy talented team that can respond to physical agression. |

that guy was ahead of his time. he was built for today's game, not that clutch-and-grab poop. |

I agree.
As long as Plekanec and DD will be there, there is no spot available for Galchenyuk at center.
One of those two has to go. DD wouldn't bring much. But a borderline selke nominee would. |

the problem with that is, the Hawks have 3-4 guys in Toews, Kane, Keith and Hossa who could someday find themselves in the HOF. that's ridiculous. that's less a model than it is a golden age of talent. |

We are getting there.
If Bergevin manages well, we could be close in 2-3 years. |
