It would dramatically reduce the mentions of Shattuck-St. Mary's. Wonder what they pay him for that?

On an unrelated topic, I'm not very happy that the Phils took pitchers with each of their 1st 2 picks. Guess Rube the boob doesn't see any value in actually scoring runs.

Like his game when I watched, but I'd be just as happy with Dysin Mayo, Aaron Irving, or Joshua Jacobs (right now committed to Michigan St with his OHL rights belonging to Sarnia)

Without knowing more than just seeing some passing film and reading what I can, he seems like he could have the most upside of the "proven" junior defensemen out there. Just hard to get over a player I really like, especially when I'm not too familiar with the other options.

There's so many issues with that team right now that any pick will fill one position but leave a boatload of others open.

They took them because they "project" to make it the the big league fast........No problem with it.......RAJ don't make the picks that's the job of scouting director Marti Wolever

To be fair, US/Canadian players can be just as cranky and whiney for different reasons.
- jmatchett383

Yeah, let's not pretend that a guy like Gretzky didn't skip out on his junior team to chase greener pastures in the WHA as a 16-yo, or that Bobby Hull didn't quit the NHL over compensation, or a guy like Eric Lindros didn't do all the stuff he did.

You can get power hitters and closers later in the draft. Front line starters, shortstops, center fielders are much harder to find.

According to MLB Network, this was a very pitcher heavy draft.

Their first pick is a guy who many think is the safest pick in the draft. People feel he could be the first in the draft class to make it to the big leagues. Jon Hart said "He's a guy I see being a fixture in the starting rotation for a long time."

I suppose, Im just so tired of Amaro. I think he and his scouting dept have done a terrible job over the last few years. Guess having Gilick spoiled me!

So back to hockey: If the Kings win game 2, does anyone see this going past 5 games?

I feel the same. Their record of first round pick since 2004 is, by far, the worst in baseball. By most accounts, they seem to have done well this year and last year. We'll see what happens.

Nope. I don't see home ice as a huge advantage for either team. Both are deep at forward so match ups aren't as important.

If it was always about money, Sidney Crosby would be making $10M+ a year.
- jmatchett383

Cant compare the two because crosby also receives good money from endorsements deals. So what ever hea doesn't take in contract can be made up elsewhere.

anything is possible. the kings needed all 21 to get to the SCF; the rangers needed 20.

i'd much prefer to watch the game on Sunday then tomorrow. Anyway, tomorrow is for horses. I think you get better ratings with Friday night/Sunday games, but i'm sure they have their reasons. just lame.

He's still a top 4, two-way defenseman with high character and playoff experience. You don't think a team like Colorado would pay $6M for one year of Kimmo?
- PhillySportsGuy

i'm sure there's a team out there that would give him 6. i don't think he's worth that. i was thinking 3ish +. he'll probably get more than that. even if he returns, i doubt the flyers win the cup, so in assessing value, can they spend that money on other assets that will be here for more than a year, that can be building blocks? if so, i'd rather go that route than spend 4-5 million for one year of kt that's not likely to result in a cup.
