I thought that the most important points made in the Garrioch article were;

Spezza does not want to go to a traditional Canadian hockey market like Vancouver as he wants out of the media focus. Spezza is cooperating with the Sens in finding a "right" team for him to go. Almost certainly he will be signing with the new team.

Some teams are interested in Spezza as a #1 center (St. Louis, Nashville) and others as a #2 (Anahiem). Regardless of where he goes Murray will get his price as the interest in Spezza is very high. (Important to keep in mind that the top player coming back is not nearly as important as the pick and the prospect to Murray.)

Murray will not deal with Florida or the Rangers. Both have expressed interest in Spezza. He wants to send him West. I still think Florida has the raw resources to make the best offer.

Geeze, I wish Ottawa could trade for a new owner.

If the deal is with Nashville, the main piece will either be josi or forsberg....if del sot to is part of the deal, he's a secondary piece.....especially considering he's an rfa

Murray was initially offering assets like Greening and Gryba for Del Zotto... the Rangers were rumoured to be after Methot (which fits the Klein trade), and I don't see how any of that diminishes their interest in a puck-moving defenceman with good years left in him, which is something they'll have little hope of adding from the UFA market.

Not to mention that if there's serious talk about Bonino, than that should sober some people up about what the trade return is going to be like (forget about Josi, Lindholm, or Schwartz). And I'd sure rather see them get Del Zotto and the 11th overall pick as part of the trade return than Bonino.

We try to avoid Leaf subjects on this thread. In particular, we do not acknowledge the Leaf victory over the Bruins in 2012-13. We are overwhelmed by their run into the playoffs this past season and we are intimidated by their brilliant signing of David Clarkson right under our noses.

Hey man. You think Fowler, Palmeiri and #10 for Spezza to play in the tough West is a good trade for Anaheim?

I agree that offer is pretty unrealistic. I'd probably do fowler for spezza straight up....even add a prospect on our end.

I don't think josi + pick or prospect (not a 1st or high end prospect, but a 2nd or good prospect) is unrealistic from Nashville though

I agree. Nashville has great depth in their young D men. It is one place where they can deal from strength.

They're not going to remotely think about trading a 24 year old dman playing more than 26 minutes a game on their first pairing, scoring points, with good contract status for another 5 years or so, for the likes of Spezza. Spezza signed long term would still need pieces added to get Josi.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you prock. The epitome of hockey knowledge, the same guy who claimed phaneuf is a top 5-10 dman in the entire NHL.

I think it does work both ways. Jossi would be a great addition. I would not be opposed to Ottawa sweetening the deal to get the right player. Nashville is very thin up front and does not have much to offer, so I think the key to their offer comes off the back end.

Prock is not bad if you don't provoke him. His comments are usually pretty astute when he sticks to hockey facts.

He also completely ignores the fact that he plays with the best dman in the league, which just MIGHT improve his numbers just slightly

If Spezza doesn't have Nashville in his list of teams he won't want to get traded to, then it only makes sense to negotiate with them. They need a solid 1C and they have the defensive assets to work with. I feel like St.Louis and Anaheim will look at Spezza as more of a rental than Nashville who are looking for a change of scenery.

So its already starting. Sens fans wanted to extend hemsky. To stay in Ottawa hemsky wants absurd amounts of money. (Probably just won't stay no matter). Spezza now wanting out. Next up bobby Ryan. Start of a landslide.

bozak lite
Turris is better than any of the Leafs centers, and could easily play 1C in half of the league's teams.

That's 15 teams right there; the rest would consider him as a 1C with respect to age.
