the Rangers dominated the game last night.
if anything, it was "LUCK" that kept it from being 4-0 - jimbro83
agreed- Vanek's fluke off stick was only legit chance imo. Tikker kept them in it.. Rangers should have had 2-3 more easy goals. |

Vanek Vanished. Only question is, was he injured. If he was, he's somewhat excused.
Everyone saying a healthy Price would not have made a difference, but if Price was healthy, he would have won one of the first 2 games, I believe that and this would have went 7 games.
Congrats Rangers tho, go get the Cup.
Moving forward, I would let all UFA's walk except for Weaver, Markov (if price is right) and maybe, remotely maybe, Vanek.
As for RFA's, resign them all.
Trade bait:
- Pleks
- Emelin
- Gorges (only if its in a package for a stud D like Weber) - Puckers
That package would have to include a heck of a lot more! |

I don't understand how u think that it was just a bit of luck they lost. They were outplayed and outshot all series that's not luck. Even the game they won in ot they were "LUCKY" to get it to overtime. Anyways hate the rags kings r taking it all . Go richards n carter rub salt all over the flyers. |

Say what you will about how the guy plays, but I will never use the term "character" when talking about a hockey player unless I am making fun of someone or something. Did Barry Bonds have good character? Did Mickey Mantle? Martin Brodeur? To whit "he's gonna have a great game tonight Chuck, earlier he helped an old lady across the street and visited some sick kids in the hospital."
Basically, character is a talking point that means nothing. It's an arbitrary, abstract thing to talk about that is talked about because it can't be measured, described or witness, and hence, you can't be wrong when you talk about it. - James_Tanner
Don't even go there James. These two do not belong in the same paragraph, much less a sentence. And Vanek, Gionta were invisible when they needed to shine. "Character" players step up in crunch time. |

I don't think anyone could lay blame to one player being the reason why the Habs did not advance past the rangers. Puck luck aside, Rangers played better in this series as evidenced by the amount of time they held the lead in the series. Would have Carey Price changed things in this series? Maybe. You can't take anything away from Tokarski as far as the saves he had to make but he is not up to Price's level when handling the puck which is a big part of Montreal's breakout game.
Vanek was the player that he was prior to the trade. Highly skilled but at times, a non factor. He had some big plays in the Boston series and generally, he helped the team on most nights. Personally I think he was hurt because I don't think he shot the puck at all this series. Maybe it was from the Subban hit/train wreck in the Boston series. For the price he is going to ask, I'd probably pass on him. |

if the Habs don't get a lucky overtime goal in game 3, it's a four game sweep, how about that angle? |

Direct Quote:
"Rangers have been awesome and saying the Canadiens got unlucky doesn't diminish anything they have accomplished. An understanding of how luck factors into daily life is of course necessary to understand this, but let's just assume deep down people know that luck is the biggest single factor in any hockey game and move on." |

I don't think that at all.
It wasn't a 'Candiens should have won because' blog...it was a 'recognize how close it was and don't overreact if you are a Canadiens fan' blog

You are correct, I am just picking random events and choosing them as the basis for my argument. You are doing the same thing and your point is no less valid - if that happened that is very much the case.
Just because the Canadiens had the two instances of bad luck I pointed out does not mean they themselves didn't have good luck in order to be in the position that they could have tied the series on that goal post before the Rangers won it in OT.
The point I was making was that the Canadiens put themselves in a position to win the series and could have done so if they had literally done nothing differently, which is true, except for the obvious butterfly effect of if they did make it 2-2 last nights game would never have happened the same way.
Ultimately, I think my original point is good because all I am saying is lay off the blame and acknowledge that everyone essentially played well and should be proud and the fans should be happy. |

but the guy is still going to get paid and then give the team who signs him 3 decent years and some horrible value later in the contract.
any GM who gives this slug 7 years should be fired. he is not fast and doesnt work hard. that is why he sucks in the playoffs and will decline rapidly over the next few years. |
