My order would be toews/ Crosby/ g/ bergeron/ kopitar/ getlaf
- Sms401

Why would you want Bergeron? He was a 45th overall selection.
Same with Giroux (22nd) and Getzlaf (19th). You can't find good players at those spots.

I think he was looking for curmudgeonistic. The adverb form was the wrong choice. I expect no better grammar from a wanna-be-yinzer.

far too pretentious of a word. adding an ly gives it a much more friendly appeal.

and i am friendly

I have to be honest, and this won't be popular. But I think I'd put Kopitar ahead of Giroux right now.

Good for Detroit? Yeah they got lucky with datsyuk/ zetterberg. Has Philly ever drafted like that? Just when actually have we drafted anyone decent outside round 1 lately? It soooo easy to say draft well but guess what other teams have that problem too. Using it as a model when you haven't drafted a single decent dman in the last 30 years doesn't give me confidence. It's like a drunk saying yeah I can have a beer I'll stop after just one when you know he can't. No trust at all
- Sms401

not just later rounds but they routinly draft in the back half of rounds 1-7

They used 2 second round picks to acquire him, so he counts twice!

The rest of the Draft should just be cancelled after the first 15 picks.

I think the Flyers should do what I do in video games.

First, you tank to get a top 3 pick for "free.". Trade your aging vets (aka everyone over 32) for picks and only picks. So, by the time the draft rolls around, you have like 6 2nds and a few 1sts. Package all those picks together with a player if you need to, until you get 3 out of the top 5 picks.

That's only for the first year though.

After you sign a free agent or 2, trade them for a terrible team's 1st rounder and hope they're actually horrendous that year so that/those pick(s) turn into a top 5. Then, trade the next person in line who's good but older and making a lot of money and your 1st rounder like 7 seasons from now for a top 10 pick and a bunch of future ones.

Do that every year.

Works every time. Hextall needs to take notes.

Doesn't the owner fire you if you miss the playoffs 2 years in a row?

5 of the top 10 leading scorers were not pick in the top 15.
- PhillySportsGuy

Hedman and Pietrangelo are the only top-10 scorers for D picked 1-14. Karlsson was 15th-overall, Kronwall was 29th-overall, the rest were 2nds and way beyond.

without a doubt. id put him over malkin and toews as well. perhaps i need to watch more of stamkos to see what growth he has made, but i would probably take him over him as well.

I'd take Crosby. And that's because he's the best player in the NHL. There is no one player (certainly no center) in the NHL that I'd trade him for. MAYBE Stamkos.

Nope. 3.

Plus, it doesn't matter, because you can just play like the last 3 weeks, go 11-0-1, and squeak into the playoffs.
