I've got nothing against her for doing an underwear calendar, personally. That said, I wouldn't use my journalist social media account to plug my underwear calendar. The boring fluff pieces are why I don't take her seriously.
- BulliesPhan87

Apparently at the time she was pushing to get better assignment and getting rebuked. She was having a bit of an issue with it as she thought she was better than some of the established writers around her.

I don't hate her, she just annoys me. I should just ignore her but it's like listening to that Josh Innes dude on 610 AM during Phils games. It's such a train wreck that you have no idea what will happen next. Even though I think it's trash I can't stop reading, listening.

In order, which Center would people want to start a franchise with. All things being equal if they were all the same age.

Crosby, Giroux, Kopitar, Getzlaf, Toews, Bergeron.

This should be interesting.

- PLindbergh31

I'll pick 6th in that draft and be dam happy about who I get.

G is the only elite player on that list. Can't win a cup with that
- Sms401

Waiting 2 seasons, we'll see Couturier as an elite player, and Brayden Schenn as an almost elite player.

Giroux will still be elite.

Voracek may be elite.

Mason will be elite.

BUT (frank) IT WE NEED TO WIN NOW THIS SEASON OR WE SUCK

Yes most teams get lucky from time to time in the later rounds. Go look back over the last 7 drafts and tell how well there drafted ?
- Sms401

What you're saying is ridiculous. Every draft produces great players outside of the top 15. You don't need to tank to find all stars.

But if we trade all of our horrible 20+ goal scorers for unproven players, we'll win for sure!!!

Yeah. I left a few guys off.

I'm with you on Kopitar. He's the total package. I think he's the best defensive center in the NHL.

- PLindbergh31

Not only that, but Kopitar is a players who should be in the conversation of best player in the League.

Shea Weber and PK Subban were only good because they were #1 overall picks.

I was talking a few years back about how underrated he is. He seems to have finally arrived in the spotlight.

im curious as to what your point is here though. were you saying the flyers should just tank and hopefully get that elite talent? make all the pens tanking jokes you want. but tanking, should that be what youre advocating, doesnt necessarily equate with success. the pens got embarrassed by the same team you did, perhaps to a much greater degree.

would you trade rosters as currently constructed with edmonton? theyve sure had a lot of time to accrue that top end talent.

- stayinthefnnet

I never said tank season ??? I was just saying unless you hit rock bottom the odds of drafting elite talent in the 15-25 range and building your team that was isn't going to work. Going the free agency route doesn't work anymore. Offer sheets don't work. So how to get the elite talent is the question. Philly routinely drafts in the middle round 1 and drafts decent players. Ie gagne/ Richards/carter/ Laughton/etc... But you do not win cups with that unless you also have elite to go along with it. Last I checked no cups in 40 years. Nowadays you need to trade some of that good talent to get elite talent and somehow that turned into me saying blow everything up and trade everyone.

I think he was looking for curmudgeonistic. The adverb form was the wrong choice. I expect no better grammar from a wanna-be-yinzer.

Elite players are sometimes drafted outside of the first round. Two of the best defenseman in the League, that are still playing, were drafted in the 2nd round.

and this is where im extremely vexed as in finding the point, unless it is just to rant and curse the sky (which is fine, i do it daily).

the parameters that you are throwing out to me as i read them are this:

you cannot win without elite talent.
you cannot acquire elite talent without picking at the very top of the draft.

and there is my confusion. because, without putting words in your mouth, it would very much indicate tanking.

I think the Flyers should do what I do in video games.

First, you tank to get a top 3 pick for "free.". Trade your aging vets (aka everyone over 32) for picks and only picks. So, by the time the draft rolls around, you have like 6 2nds and a few 1sts. Package all those picks together with a player if you need to, until you get 3 out of the top 5 picks.

That's only for the first year though.

After you sign a free agent or 2, trade them for a terrible team's 1st rounder and hope they're actually horrendous that year so that/those pick(s) turn into a top 5. Then, trade the next person in line who's good but older and making a lot of money and your 1st rounder like 7 seasons from now for a top 10 pick and a bunch of future ones.

Do that every year.

Works every time. Hextall needs to take notes.
