It's not just her reporting, I follow all the Flyers reporters on facebook and she's just so unbelievably unprofessional that I can't stand it. I understand she's fairly young but I'll never be able to take her as a serious media member. She comes off like a fan girl mascot type.

That being said she does seem like a nice person. Just a nice person I want to bash.

I follow her on twitter. She does mention a lot of personal things.

Detriot seems to do ok drafting later in the round?
- J35Bacher

yeah i was gonna throw that example out there too.

its just damn hard to win the stanley cup. im frustrated too, and go through the whole office space evaluation from the bobs in my head on each player and whatnot. admittedly, thats part of the fun of being a fan.

but if your attitude is we will never win anything, nothing will ever work here, i just feel bad. do you even get any enjoyment out of it?

hockey of all sports, sometimes just getting in the playoffs is all it takes. look at your own cup run. hell, look at this rangers squad. they are going to the SCFs, and most of the talk about their team is that they are buying out their first line center.

I don't think I've ever actually read any of her write ups. Isn't she just humdrum "So-and-so's path to the NHL" kind of filler fluff stuff?
- BulliesPhan87

Basically, yes. She's not an idiot though. I agree with her most of the time. She doesn't throw out ridiculous things like Panaccio does.

how come the players you acquired in those deals, along with giroux (who many still regard as the best player in the league) cant eventually put the flyers into the position that the kings were in, and then you can acquire your own fric and frac type guys to put the team over the top?
- stayinthefnnet

Look at top players in final four this year. Kopitar/doughty/quick. Toews/kAne/Keith. Price/subban. Lundquist/ mcdoughah/Nash/Richards. We have mason/ schenn/couts/jake. See the difference. All good players and I'm not saying they can't get a little better but their always going to be a notch or 2 below the elite. You do not win cups with good. You win with elite. The one thing phly has going for them is a lot of players that other teams would want. They have a lot of trade chips. But drafting in the middle of round 1 and getting Laughton ( although a nice good prospect) that projects as a 3rd line shutdown center with a little offensive is not going to push you into true contention with the elite teams.

i will address this more in depth in a second, but did you intentially not list giroux? because leaving out your premier front line center will make any team's summary of stars look a hell of a lot worse. hell, take lundqvist off the rangers summary, and you have 2/3 players that people want bought out.

Laughton type players are elite? You disagree. You think we can pick 15-25 every year and still pick elite talent to add to the pipeline? And how of you figure that? I'm curious?

Keith, Hossa, Subban, Hank, McD, Richards, Pacioretty, Kopitar, Quick, Carter, Richards, Brown, Seabrook, Plekanec, etc were all drafted outside of the top-10... aka no tanking required.

im curious as to what your point is here though. were you saying the flyers should just tank and hopefully get that elite talent? make all the pens tanking jokes you want. but tanking, should that be what youre advocating, doesnt necessarily equate with success. the pens got embarrassed by the same team you did, perhaps to a much greater degree.

would you trade rosters as currently constructed with edmonton? theyve sure had a lot of time to accrue that top end talent.

Claude Giroux, Simon Gagne, Mike Richards, Justin Williams > JvR, Carter and Pitkanen

15-25 seems to be working OK.

In order, which Center would people want to start a franchise with. All things being equal if they were all the same age.

Crosby, Giroux, Kopitar, Getzlaf, Toews, Bergeron.

This should be interesting.

i understand. but you guys have options. perhaps try and make a deal if the right one is there. or maybe you do find some quality in what you have developing.

but lord. maybe i read it wrong, but the prevailing mindset behind that post is why bother even having a franchise.

- stayinthefnnet

The mindset behind it is simple. People need to stop pipe dreaming thinking we're going to fix this team by fa or just trades or stay the course and draft well and develope players. Yes I agree draft well and develope but the odds are against any team picking their roster and hsving elite talent picking in the middle of the rounds. Unless you bottom out of course and get Kane/toews or Crosby/malkin. Philly doesn't want to do that. But retooling with streit/Vinny/macdonald type players at 5 mil for 5 years I'd NEVER going to work.

I like her work well enough.

She is certainly not an old school, hardened reporter type and seems/writes more like what you'd get from a blogger with a press pass (and that's not a rip....at least from me, it's not). She obviously grew up never knowing what it was like to never have the internet around, so that could explain her comfort level with sharing stuff on social media.

I do make a point to click and read her stuff. She seems fine to me. And you can't even play the "YOU NEVER PLAYED" card with her because she does actually play the game.

im sorry im not trying to be argumentative here, but when you say the mindset behind it is simple, im struggling to lock down what exactly it is. so you are advocating tanking?

i agree that retooling with guys like streit and vinny for those type of deals will never work, because they are bad contracts and dont indicate a clear direction. like i said, would you trade rosters with edmonton as it stands here and now?

yes. another kopitar lover.

biased or not, i still go crosby one. but kopitar is second. malkin is by far the most gifted guy in the league, but i dont know how high i can put him.

crosby, kopitar, toews are my top 3.

I'll throw out the perfect argument I've heard about her that I heard between two other media members. "you can't whine and cry about being taken seriously as a journalist then spend 6 months promoting a calendar you're on in your underwear all over your (internet footprint)."

Good for Detroit? Yeah they got lucky with datsyuk/ zetterberg. Has Philly ever drafted like that? Just when actually have we drafted anyone decent outside round 1 lately? It soooo easy to say draft well but guess what other teams have that problem too. Using it as a model when you haven't drafted a single decent dman in the last 30 years doesn't give me confidence. It's like a drunk saying yeah I can have a beer I'll stop after just one when you know he can't. No trust at all

Yeah. I left a few guys off.

I'm with you on Kopitar. He's the total package. I think he's the best defensive center in the NHL.

I'll take an aggressive team over one that dulls me to sleep.

Crosby, Toews, Datsyuk.
