Probably more like 3 but yeah around that price. Hes playing on the 4th line now and I just cant see any reasonable GM giving him 4.
- FrmRusiaWifGlov

yeah i can too. but a struggling team, you never know.

like you said, for a contending team, he should take a little less.

Forgot about those penalties. Yeah I guess if they really want to get rid of him then

It depends how they see things shaking out next summer. This summer, they're in good shape, next summer they have to make decisions on vets like Stoll & Williams, plus their going to have to give significant raises to Jake Muzzin and Alec Martinez, who both make peanuts right now.

Even with a rising cap, guys like Trevor Lewis are playing more minutes and bigger roles and if Richards remains just a solid guy, does an analytical front office like LA keep him for Auld Lang Syne? Not sure.

I dont see him really considering many of the struggling teams. Though at the right price maybe.

Michael Raffl, Vincent Lecavalier, Jason Akenson and Steve Downie. these are all players who had a long look with Matt Read and Sean Couturier. Downie by far was the best compliment to them. It really would be nice to find a player that complements those two well long term.

Between Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg and Shayne Gostisbehere, who do you all feel is most likely to become a hidden gem?

Where does Scott Laughton rank as far as expectations to you when comparing him to Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn. Example, Claude Giroux came into the line up as a support and young developing player, when this team basically belonged to Jeff Carter and Mike Richards. We'll set Claude Giroux himself aside because none of these players will ever be Giroux and Briere was on this team at the time as another center in question of where will he fit.

2010

Briere, Carter, Richards, Giroux

2015

Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, Laughton

Could one person be able to get 2 tickets to the draft?

This whole "email us to be the first to know when they're up for sale" thing is really throwing me off.

Also, I see philly.com and tsn saying tix go on sale Friday. Tomorrow is not Friday, and the flyers Facebook page said tomorrow.

Why is this so confusing.

I'm a STH and they offered them to me twice.

First time I went in, I got two tickets.

A week later, I received a second email offer for tickets in my email. I thought it was weird, since I took advantage of the first offer. I clicked on the 2nd offer and I was refused further tickets because I took advantage of the first offer.

Why, then, send me a 2nd offer? I feel like a few things fell through the cracks or some details were only finalized at the last minute (I understand the NHL had a hand in these shenanigans, so I don't only blame the Flyers).

That said, my tickets were free, so there's that.

Are there real "franchise" type guys littered in this draft? I'm never necessarily against trading guys, but 3 roster players for 1 (the #3 pick, unless a top franchise guy, won't contribute next year meaningfully). That hurts. I think if you're moving that much stuff out of town, you either need more real players back, or a Norris caliber D-man.

Yea I think he has all playoffs

He just can't skate with the rest of the team. He's been struggling for awhile

- Just5

The Mike Richards I've been watching play, isn't struggling.

Yeah, I love how that part of the post gets ignored.

Yes, he retires, gets hired as an ambassador/Scout/figurehead/good luck charm for two years at $500K each...Christ they're paying him $4mm to not play hockey, I think that if they can manage cap relief, they won;t have any issue paying him another $1mm over two years to "scout".

- Jsaquella

Let's add some context here. When they agreed to the contract and what they were going to pay Pronger, it wasn't to not play Hockey. At that point they didn't have a choice. So stating that they're paying him 4M not to play, as if they were okay with that, is incredibly misleading. And how much do top NHL scouts make? The scenario would involve the Flyers trading Pronger to get away from the 35+ rule, to another team. And then Pronger screwing the team that traded for him, and retiring. How likely is that? The premise of him becoming a "scout" so he can still make the 1M is flat out silly.

That is incorrect. Lewis is not playing a bigger role and more minutes then Richards is. Richards is also playing more then players like Toffoli and Pearson are.

It was assumed that any team trading for him would only be interested in accruing his cap hit to meet the floor... they'd be delighted if they were 'screwed' by the 35+ nature of the contract and got the full cap hit without having to pay an actual penny. Of course, this sequence would be pre-approved by all parties prior to trade.

And the Flyers would just turn around and make whole on the remainder of Pronger's deal, but the burden would be shifted away from HRR and over to the front office.

The NHL probably steps in and squashes the whole thing, but it's an elegant solution nonetheless. Pronger gets paid everybody gets what they want.

I don't see Pronger willing to do that. Nor as you stated do I see the NHL allowing it. The whole thing is silly. And HRR isn't the right term. It's not revenue, it's cost.

The way I look at it is eberle solves the winger problem with g. And the #3 pick is one of bennet/Reinhardt/ekblad. Either you're getting a future #1 dman or a #1a center. All 3 are pro ready and lock up 2 big building blocks. Both teams make out in this deal to me.

Deal with it. Cap hit doesn't change, even though the salary dips. Maybe a budget team would have interest, not sure the NHL would allow so blatant a cap circumvention
- Jsaquella

They did with Tim Thomas going to the Islanders not to play.
