Not sure I'd go that far, lot of raw kids selected, for sure. Not the best class, especially compared to the previous season - Jsaquella
Most of the time, rounds 3-4 might produce a bottom-6 guy or a 5-7 defenseman, and rounds 5-7 never pan out to much more than AHL role players. If Morin and Hagg can be top-4 defensemen, Ghoul can be a solid 4th line player, and one of the other picks ends up helping out the Phantoms, it's a good draft. |

The only problem with that theory is that the momentum change occurred about 5 minutes before the fight. - jak521
That momentum change was 5 minutes before the Flyers scored their 3rd goal??? That only makes it worse. If the Penguins were coming at the Flyers, and STILL ended up giving up another goal, I can't believe they weren't on the verge of becoming emotionally defeated. |

Yea.. the Flyers caught a huge break with that goal, but you could see what the Pens had coming. They were all over the Flyers.. the goal didnt dismay them at all. The fight, which by most theories should have pumped the Flyers up didnt... no it did. The bench loved it. The only problem was that the Pens were already boiling. |

Agreed. I like the first two picks. Goulbourne, if he was a 4th or 5th rounder, would have been a fine pick. Still think he was a reach, considering the other names still on the board when he was picked.
Honestly, if Hagg & Morin become good top four defensemen-say the level of Braydon Coburn or similar, it's a good draft, regardless what anyone else does. |

Id rather talk about the upcoming draft rather than Rinaldo...Seriously this debate is still going on for the optimal fourth liner?
Anyone play watchdogs yet for the ps4? Is it any good? |

The pick was probably a reach, if only because the Flyers were (likely) the only team interested, as most projections didn't have him going that high. They likely could have scooped him up later.

Im not so optimistic about Morin.
I wasnt pumped about the pick then, and I am still MEH on it now.
I know he was picked as a RAW player who they felt could explode over the next few years, but thats a bigggg risk.
i would have went Pulock, Zadorov, or Morrisey in that spot. I hope I am VERY wrong. |

Trade up for Hayden Fleury.
Draft Anthony DeAngelo and make him a winger.
Lecavalier for something not named Carcillo. |

I hated him for giving Pittsburgh a chance to gain a momentum swing when they were firmly in control of a game and had just scored a goal. - jmatchett383
Biron not being able to control rebounds turned the momentum of the game, not Talbots "valiant" asskicking. Do you actually think the Pens were like, oh, poor Max, he just let himself get pummled so we'll play harder or that Biron was shakey, even though they were up 3-0, and let up a horrendous rebound that lead to the first goal. I think its more likey the Pens were saying keep getting pucks on him, this guy sucks.....but thats just me |

The kid is about as mean as pronger....His good defensively, at least the highlights i saw from the world juniors...i think if hes offensive game can pickup we could have struck gold. |

That's my biggest issue...There were still some very good prospects on the board when he went. Much would have rather seen them grab Lodge, Bjorkstrand, Cammaratta, Hogberg or Subban at that point, and then traded into the 4th round or waited to pick Goulbourne in the 5th round. |

I dont know what people see that make them says he is as mean as Pronger.. I simply dont see that. I see a big kid who gets by because of his size. |

Iam curious to find out how this team gets more skill and faster. I like what I read about this Rausmann kid from sweden so that would be an upgrade. I would also be interested in some of the kids not signed by June 1st like Hyka, Sutter, Veil, Karlsson. Also wonder if there are any buyout canidates that could be interesting. I just want to see a plan and if its just one guy this offseason I want to see a plan to getting bigger and faster and more skilled. Also want to see players that might be low risk/high reward that could pay off in the long run |

I agree I would have rather had Morrissey, Pulock or Zadorov. But I've become comfortable with Morin. I think he skates well for a big guy, and he should be, at worst, a solid NHLer.
But yeah, I liked Zadorov a lot. Pulock, too |

I like his compete level but I really don't want to draft a smallish player in the first round this year. I'd rather they add size and speed if that's on the board. |

I just feel as though the Flyers often over think with picks... especially the past few seasons.
It has really paid off to a certain extent.

Hyka remains LA property. Karlsson signed with Carolina today. Veil and Sutter re-enter the draft, IIRC.
Rasmussen is interesting, because he could challenge for a NHL spot. They also have Laughton in the mix, as well as McGinn and Akeson who will probably be given a chance to make the team.
As for the draft, there's a bunch of guys who could be sitting there at 17, if the Flyers don't trade up. Jake Virtanen had shoulder surgery and could fall. Julius Honka is a skilled defenseman, bit small, but good skater and smart. Brendan Perlini is a big winger and Alex Tuch is a big center, who can play wing. Adrian Kempe is a speedy guy with good size and his brother is a former Flyer draftee. Jared McCann, Dylan Larkin, Kevin Fiala and Sonny Milano are others who could be the pick for the Flyers. |

I was really pulling for the kid to land here.. he was available and I thought for sure he would end up here. I flipped the hell out when they took Morin.
Pullock with a cannon from the point would have been a beauty here in Philly.. super raw defensively as well. Could go on to be a very very good d-man |

Morin is a better athlete than Zadorov. His skating in the Memorial Cup games I watched was alarmingly poor. |

Not a very awe inspiring draft in my opinion. Rather they dont give up a bundle to move up.. unless they are getting into the top 7. |
