The Myers debate gets tiring here. He had a really strong season ....... And yet you see articles that list him as a buyout candidate.

Unfortunately I have a feeling people won't see how good he is until our team improves a lot

- sbroads24

Tim Murray would never do that

Myers is still a valuable piece to the Sabres...they trade him before the thought of a buyout.

Think there's plenty of teams that would be lining up

I think Buffalo has to look at moving Myers to the extent of who they have coming...Ristolainen, Zadorov, McCabe, Pysyk and potentially Ekblad. They need to make room.

Especially with the uncertainty of Myers going forward, his contract and what he may fetch in the trade market.

Just my 2 cents...

You move Erhoff then . Myers is young and fits perfectly in the timing of the rebuild. They will not draft Ekblad . One of the two Sam's will end up here.

Problem is they won't get the value back that Myers is actually worth... IMO at least

Pretty sure we have ours, the jets' and the wild's 2nd round pick this year.

I think you're right. Looks like my snippy criticism should just as well have been directed at myself, and I should have doubled-checked before I spoke.

IMO the only a handful of teams wouldn't be interested.

He's locked up until he's 29 and his cap hit isn't bad for even a 2-3 defensemen (which I think he's rounding out to be a top guy)

If they are significantly better, then you trade him (which wont happen in the next 2-3 years). Ehrhoff, Weber, McBain would all be gone before they think of moving Myers unless the deal was too good to pass up.

are you saying that I should bury my head in the sand because the WHC is important, or that my head is buried in the sand because you're basing the play of Myers on this game?
- thatsapickle

Canada lost to France at the WHC. Thats all I'll say.

I wouldn't force him out, but if they can get a first round pick or good prospects I'd do it. Defensive depth always helps, and having Myers would allow that.

Myers will be just fine where he is .Last season he seemed to shake the sophomore slump. We will see that with the prospects we have now . and coming in. Will be 4 years till we see all these players full potential . Not saying they will be good sooner than that. Most players don't get star power until 2-3 years in the nhl full time .

I'm a gambling man. I definitely prefer the 2015 pick and the chance of it being a great pick (#1 or #2) versus the #5 this year.
- The Don

That's foolish because the Islanders had a ton of injuries, and a team save percentage of .895 last year. The odds are that they won't have as many injuries, the young players will only improve, and they just added Jaroslav Halak (career .918 sp, .921 last season). The odds are very bad that next year's pick is worse than 5th overall; it's likely to be closer to 15th or 20th overall.

Halak isn't that good man. The guy has never reached the 30 win plateau. Even while on a team like the Blues. So ya he is not much of an upgrade IMO.

Isles will be closer to 10-15 then 15-20 at the end of next season.

Did you just see his give away that sends Canada home from the World Championships?

Announcers said it was the worst turnover they have seen at the professional level. The guy is lost.

- bloatedmosquito

Your taking that tournament to seriously. Every time a player makes a mistake commentators say it was the worst move they have ever seen. Commentators know nothing.

Get over it.

Not the next Stamkos but it does indicate the talant he possesses. He's becoming a great offensive play. Probably he'll just keep getting better.

Myers on the other hand has regressed.

- bloatedmosquito

What makes you qualified to make these assessments?

Have you seen the Sabres play this season?

Myers was a bright spot when Nolan came into town. He turned his game around considerably. He is back on his way up. A performance in a meaningless tournament is well meaningless. By your assessments Joel Ward should be in contention for the Hart next season. Seriously bud get over it. It was a single bad play.
