On that note

Jonathon Quick gives up 2 breakaway goals to Ben Smith Nick Leddy... named 2nd star

Ryan Miller gives up 2 breakaway goals to Pat Kane and Jonathon Toews.... gets criticized.

- sbroads24

Quick won the game. Smith and Leddy are not near the caliber of Kane and Toews. Logic has no place here.

That's depressing. Not that I know much about soccer, but Donovan seemed to be captain clutch in the World Cup.

Why would any professional sports team plan to suck? What the fack kind of knowledge is that.
- mighty13duck

That is what you do for a proper rebuild . You get rid of old assets for picks and prospects and build from the ground up. But being an Islanders fan I understand how you would have no knowledge on how a proper sports franchise gets rebuilt for long term success . Yes I know , you guys were great in the 80's . What have you done in the last 30 years.?

Isles have been doing that for years. No franchise would ever go on record and say they plan on doing bad the next season.

I'm just trying to find where the logic is here. A guy had a bad game, which every player has, and he should be removed from the team immediately. Just trying to figure out where the reasoning is behind the cutting of Myers.
- thatsapickle

Dude...what are you talking about?

We were comparing Erhoff to Myers

His tournament performance has nothing to do with anything...

My points were laying out my support that Erhoff is a better player right now then Myers

No one in the Sabres organization has said it directly either. Just that we are focused on the next two drafts. (EDITED for no confusion)

The fans are saying it. We understand that there is a method to the madness. Professional athletes will not give up and not try. They will give their best effort (most of them anyway), management has the ability to put a team on the ice that can compete and still be as ineffective as last year. This team will be better because most have bought into the Nolan system. Those that haven't will be cut or moved. Doesn't mean the team will fair any better. It's a lot of if's to see what actually transpires.

If things work out for you guys the Sabres could be Chicago east. It's not only about drafting high, it's about drafting well, and I am more than a little envious of the prospects you already have.

lol I get it

I essentially said that even though Myers may have had a better season then Erhoff, That erhoff is still the better player right now.

He managed to play more games then myers
Managed more points
Took less penalties
Had better puck possession numbers
Played more minutes (which you are arguing is because he had more offensive starts...ok sure)

Let's just...make a deal already!

- Trilla

At the top of their games, Myers is the better player by a country mile when Myers is on top of his game he's dominant. Ehrhoff is just pretty good

So by that logic Ehrhoff>Stamkos and Tavares?

You're entire argument for Ehrhoff being way better is that he played more games and more minutes.

Meanwhile people who watched him all year are saying otherwise. And mind you these are some people who hated Myers' guts and wanted him gone not too long ago.

Sabres did . Have always said the key to the rebuild were the next 2 drafts, By the way with the Islanders it is not planned , just the way it always turns out. Next you are going to tell me Garth Snow is a hockey genius.

You were not the one that said we should distance ourselves from Myers either.

I'm not attacking you in any sense. We disagree and it's as simple as that. Another poster was giving those points, not you. I do not agree that Ehrhoff is a better player, but I am not coming at you with these points.

Sorry for the confusion.

It's funny how so many people click on a web link and all of sudden think they know every teams player based on enriched text and 10 minutes tsn highlights.

I wish more people would actually watch before making a rash judgement.

It's usually more fun when the debate extends to more than X played more than Y therefore X was much better.

I'm not even entirely sure that Ehrhoff's puck possession numbers were that much better. And I think Myers took on tougher competition (although they did play together for an extended period of time).

Firstly comparing a defenseman with a forward/s makes no sense

I brought up the amount of games he played to more or less show his durability considering his age and all.

And Normally TOI is a good indication of a lot of things when it comes to d men.

I just really wanna see Erhoff come to Ottawa :p

Ehrhoff plays a very passive style of hockey, whereas Myers has become more aggressive.

We have no incentive to move him so unless Ottawa is willing to overpay..

And at any rate can Melnyk even afford his cap hit? Wouldn't that basically prevent the sens from locking up Ryan?

Unless money is freed up some other way, I think the Sens would be better of saving that for their RFA's + Ryan. Just makes more sense long term.

The Myers debate gets tiring here. He had a really strong season ....... And yet you see articles that list him as a buyout candidate.

Unfortunately I have a feeling people won't see how good he is until our team improves a lot

Melnyk is more of a

Money-in-Money-Out gm

So in order to take on his cap hit...sabres would have to take similar cap the other way (especially if it's close to the internal budget)

Which is why if Sens/Sabres make a deal around Stewart...I can see a guy..possibly like Greening + going the other way
