I hope something bad happens to the Rangers tonight. Too many things have gone right for them lately.

Meh, if I were them, I'd take this last year on L.I. to tank up a storm and grab one of the franchise kids before the big move to Brooklyn.

Man, I just can't embrace that. They have enough to win hockey games. They were brutal for the better part of 18 years. I think you have to start winning hockey games.
That has to be their focus, to me.

It's like the Oilers. How long can you keep picking in the lottery. They tout all the young talent they have but it just gets them nowhere. Maybe instead of just all the young skill they try to build with a better mix.

eventually, you need to shift the culture to winning, instead of looking towards the draft. if JT is healthy, they have enough young pieces to start that shift. if you shoot for the bottom for so long, eventually it becomes like quicksand, and then you cant get out when you want.

I bet they're going to be so desperate to make moves this offseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see them be very active in FA.

Any chance Virtanen drops to us now that he is sidelined 4-6 months with a shoulder injury? That would be a nice winger in the draft

Oilers were terrible in years when the top of the draft wasn't so snazzy... 2015's going to be the best one-two since OV/Malkin.

I think last year's overall depth is going to be like the Richards/Carter draft. A guy like Mantha was picked 20th. He averaged a goal per game over the regular season and playoffs.

Looks like Snow is desperately trying to cling to his job before new ownership steps in...

I would be so nervous about this offseason if I were an Islander fan. Garth Snow and desperate are a bad combination.

Agree but for all the talent they talk about you need to make sure you have the right mix. Maybe instead of using the 1st one of these years they trade it to get a not so old veteran who can help take the team to a new level.

Yeah. I thought that was a mistake. I know what Yakupov brings but Murray is a dman that would have started them in the right direction instead of getting one dimensial forward.

That'd be a weird thing to do.

Islanders are such an unattractive destination right now. Like Edmonton, they need to massively overpay to get talent there.

I could see Snow making a big trade. Maybe they package something for Spezza.

The best thing they can do is be patient even though thats what they've done for 20 years.

I wonder about Mantha... Q isn't exactly the hardest league to score goals in... lot of their big-time goal scorers, even draft-age ones, go on to really hit a wall after they turn pro.

Yeah but being paitient when you gave up a 1st rounder for a draft that is supposed to be good is kind of stupid. If they go after spezza they better be ready to give up the 1st rounder and Griffin Rinehart

I always felt like Homer would rather be fired than make a move that hurt the franchise severely in the long run. He's been a Flyer for life. I feel like he wouldn't want to hurt his legacy.

I felt the Richards and Carter trades forced him to commit to this group through thick and thin. I'm glad he never gave up on them despite the dumb fans thinking a 21 and 22 year old have maxed out their offensive potential.

If he wants to play he will be staing in shape. And I don't want him playing hard minutes if he does come back anyways. He is not getting faster and last year he seemed to make a lot of terrible plays on the PP with telegraphing passes. I think they have enough vets that if they insert a rookie they can move the minutes around enough.

He made good moves like bringing in Mason and not signing Leino to the money he got. I mean he found Read. He made mistakes but did make good moves. Just like other gms do.
