hey now. i will grant you visitation rights, as well as 2 non transferable items of signed memorabilia

Can I also have a person of my choosing be required to be blindfolded, strap on goalie gear, and stand him in front of Pulock with no less than 78 pucks with which to take slapshots?

Yeah. I feel it would just be a Richard move by the other team. I don't think anyone would expect the Flyers to let Schenn walk for a 3rd rounder instead of paying him $2.75M
- PhillySportsGuy

I don't think Schenn would even sign a two year, $2.75 million offer sheet.

I think he'd give the Flyers a chance to match that deal before even signing with another team. It would be the nice thing to do.

Well, as a smart, conniving lawyer, I'd assume you would take out a fairly large insurance premium to protect him from all non-game-related injuries.

Thats a little different though. It was part of a strategic move to get one of those guys.

I remember people advocating the Flyers offer a ridiculous OS to Stamkos, which would have been matched, then go after Hedman because he was due for a big raise as well.

- PhillySportsGuy

That's my thing -- do it for an impact player. If you punish a team and make them have to go through hoops, so be it.

But you guys are touching on it, outright: No team's gonna sign Schenn to a "stupid money" deal, and anything else is getting matched!

Yes, jmatchett is correct: Ryan Kesler got OS'ed. But Bob Clarke effed that up, because he didn't make it something that the team had to blink to match.

What Calgary did with Ryan O'Reilly last year? That's how you do it. You want the player, you make that offer sheet punishing, like the Flyers did with Weber.

ugh. but then id probably have to spend a lot of litigation hours dealing with an even more conniving lawyer trying to convince the court that your dream scenario qualifies as a game related activity.

well, you see. there were pucks involved... and what defines a "game" anyway?

Fine. Change "game-related" to "NHL sanctioned on-ice activities."

okay. then we have to be careful to use no officially licensed NHL gear, and your fantasy must not occur on frozen liquid.

Well, I suppose he could do it with pucks on a concrete surface and running shoes.
Now I just have to pick out the volunteer....

Well, in his case it would. If he tries to pick up Chief and choke slam him, it will probably end poorly for Schenn.

Well, if we could actually change it to 3 players, that would be more enticing (Marchand, Lucic, Carcillo). And I want a facemask, so that the pain seeps in while they're conscious.

I like this a lot. I would try and bring Kimmo back and maybe give Akeson a shot instead of signing Raymond.
