okay im assuming the first one is the prerequisite sarcasm, play to both our fancies deal.

is the second one fair game to be considered a legitimate offer?

They're both fair game. I mean, how can you turn down 3 players whose last names begin with "R?"

If Homer was still here, I could almost guarantee than Schenn would have landed in Read/Simmer/Voracek territory easy... but now I honestly have no clue. Hexy doesn't sound like he's in a hurry to get it done... hopefully that means he's willing to wait the Schenn camp out.

Holmgren is still here. He was "promoted" remember?

Anyo watching Canada and Finland and hopefully future Flyer Leo Kamorov. Staying on the LEO train until it is done. No more 4 min a game 4th line.

Meh, I was just messing around... I think we can agree that a Pens-Flyers deal of magnitude would be pretty far out there in terms of fantasy.

Even if Holmgren was still in charge I don't think they would sign BSchenn until the Vinny situation is sorted out. It makes too much sense to leave him till last.

According to NHL14:
Mark Streit
2014 2nd round pick
2015 2nd round pick
2016 2nd round pick
2017 2nd round pick
--- for ---
Olli Maata

He's anchoring my 3rd pair with the since-departed Erik Gustafsson. Top pair being Shea Weber/Chris Pronger and second pair Timonen/Coburn. And I got Pulock (score!) waiting in the wings with Hagg/Morin/Ghost/Alt.

And my top lines of Jagr/Giroux/Voracek went 1-3-4 in scoring (Weber was #2).

You can't have Simmer. You get your top-6 winger in Read, another top-6 winger OR 3rd line center in Schenn, and the step down but capable D replacement in Coburn.

Gotta make the cap hit work.

I really think he could. Just like Keith, he put up good numbers on a good WHL team in his last junior year (WHL probably the most NHL-ready of the 3 junior leagues). Similar in size. Tremendous players at both ends of the ice. Looks like a good potential "A" character guy.
- jmatchett383

I only watched one of his games, but I think he needs some time to bulk up. He got outmuscled a few times and let a guy go wide on him for a bad goal. I think it was Lazar, so it wasn't some no name.

If I must:

Ghostisbehere - He's just so damn dynamic. He reminds me of a smaller Erik Karlsson, and with a year or so in the AHL to work on his defensive game, could be very Kimmo Timonen like, possibly a little more skating/offense but without the fantastic defense Kimmo still brings. Tremendous upside

Pouliot - Of the 3, the most likely to ever win a Norris. Very well rounded. Good size and can use it, great offensive instincts, and A-rate defense. I'm thinking a future Duncan Keith type.

Pulock - Probably the surest bet of the 3 with regards to his spot. He's a surefire Top-4 type who could potentially be a top pair guy. Top unit PP point man with that booming shot. Again, more well rounded than Ghost, but more of your traditional offensive defenseman who stays at home and excels at the point as opposed to the flash that Ghostisbehere will bring.

If I was starting a team from scratch, I'd go Pouliot/Ghost/Pulock. Given what the Flyers need most (and, selfishly, the player I'm most excited to see due to his gamebreaking ability) I'm switching them.

Now one for you:

Mid-90s-era mullet Jagr, late 90's/early00's Lemieux, or current day Crosby

Well, all CHL defensemen are works in progress...except for when Shea Weber played, of course.

I don't even know why this would be an issue. I really don't.

Brayden Schenn's career thus far -- and I back the guy being a Flyer and playing center -- but his career to this point SCREAMS, absolutely SCREAMS "bridge deal."

Derek Stepan got a bridge deal. P.K. Subban got a bridge deal. Sean Couturier got a bridge deal.

Brayden Schenn should get a bridge deal, and it doesn't matter whether he likes it or not. Because if somebody does something stupid and offer sheets him at the level of a first-rounder/plus, then you take those picks and move on, because as much as I want to see the guy succeed, he hasn't earned more than a bridge deal at a rate that is team friendly.

When the team has the hammer, they can swing it. When the player has the hammer, they can swing it. And right now, Brayden Schenn doesn't have the hammer.

if i read the compensation chart correctly. i could offer him a 2 year deal at 2.75 a year and only have to swing back a third? id do that

Exactly. That's my fear. At that point, you're forced to match. And it's not beyond reason to see a team like Buffalo do it.

If he would take that the Flyers probably would have already signed him. I'm sure his dumb agent wants $3m or more.
