BSchenn + a little extra for Evander Kane, any interest? Moving #10 for a winger that can play top line with Giroux while freeing up the center log jam a little.

Kane comes with some red flags, but I would be willing to move #10 in a deal like this

Schenn and Kane were same draft class, close to each other, I think this isn't far fetched.

Love, hate?

Why would WPG be interested in B Schenn? They have quite a bit of scoring depth up the middle... it's someone of Couturier's skillset that they sorely need.

If they want to do a signed Schenn for Kane straight up, sure.

I've done this stuff for a long time now, and I've NEVER, and will NEVER, understand why people are so eager to label these kids.

FFS, just 'em play. Let the kid(s) get out of junior, get to the AHL, advance to the NHL -- when they earn those promotions, preferably.

Do these kids have to have labels and pressure before they work their way up the ladder?

It's what kills some of these kids' careers.

There are gonna be people who slap Ghost with the label of bust, or overrated, if he doesn't make the Flyers this fall. You know it'll happen. Same with Laughton.

Some will be disappointed that 19-20-21 year olds don't crack the lineup in the highest league in the world AND THEN want to label them busts.

It happens every year, and it makes no sense to me whatsoever.

- AllInForFlyers

Equivalencies are just a way of gauging probabilities of success... just another tool to help in the decision-making process when it comes to the inexact science of drafting/developing kids.

For fans, it's nice to have benchmarks that we can look for year to year... for example, Morin's very close to the 0.6 ppg threshold for dmen in their draft-year... while that isn't a guarantee of success, it's still a very encouraging sign.

Why give up this early on B.Schenn? What is he 22? Be patient. I'd love to see him center a line for 82 games with Simmonds and a winger not named Vinny. He and Courturier need CONSISTENCY. Then you will see more confidence and offence.

It's not giving up on him, it's trading him for another 22 year old. Evander Kane is the same age and actually plays a position the Flyers need filled.

Funny you should mention that... LHH just did a story about that:

Interesting. If Morin returns to Juniors, it will be important for him to make some strides in point production.

I'm on the fence with Kane. Everytime I watch him he changes my mind. He will have a great game and get me thinking "This Kid is really good" Then follow that up with a very piss poor effort where the only effect he has was benifeting the opposing team with stupid lazy penalties (Hot headed penalties like Hartnell). The skill is there but his attitude concerns me.

Marcus Pettersson - D - Skellefteå - 2014 NHL Draft

Ryan Kennedy at TheHockeyNews.com, “One scout said Pettersson has the most upside of any European in the draft. A big kid who covers a lot of ground, Pettersson has an edge to his game and can move the puck pretty decently. He has a ways to go, but he’s already playing up with the men in Skelleftea after a successful start to the campaign in junior.”

Is the 2015 draft going to be deep or just have the high end talent or both?

Yeah, the D+1 season ideally should be near ppg, but I'd be happy with just seeing tangible growth from him, with the assumption that he's going to be maturing a bit later than others.

I'm not anticipating him becoming a big scorer. I'm hoping for strong defense and 25-30 points.

If he turns out to be Coburn w/ an edge, I'll be over the moon.

IMHO Morin should return to juniors, he's still got plenty to work on within his game.

A bigger, meaner Coburn that can chip in 25-30 points would be fantastic

Coburn with an edge is a pretty good player. I would hope for more consistency though.

I hope he comes in, has a dynamite camp, and they still send him back, because it's the right thing to do.

I watched probably 24 plus games of him this year, he had many good games but you could see enough to suggest he's not ready & I hope that as well in that he's sent back.

Not sure of the team this coming year in Rimouski. He could be named captain

At least he's a competent goalie. They've had such bad goaltending for so long.

Edit: I see it being akin to the Flyers getting Biron. He wasn't special, but he stabilized the position at that time.

What is the possibility of me actually getting tickets to this draft, not being a season ticket holder?

6%?

- Giroux_Is_God

I think they go on sale at either 10, 11, or noon. Check the Flyers site, they probably have a link.

As for availability, you need to be on there ready to go the moment they go up.

I mean...Halak is still young. He's got tools to be a pretty solid goalie.

This is Mason money, isn't it? If so, Mason is a steal.

If he comes in and impresses, would you be cool with the 9 game tryout? It would probably do wonders for his confidence, and he'd probably benefit from just being around an NHL team.

9 games or not, I want him back in the Q next year.
