things are looking up with Hexy and Hinkie...now the Phils need a GM - vejim
RAJ has made some very poor moves, but if Lee comes back soon I haven't counted the Phils out this year. The division is not very good.

i disagree
while the future doesnt look too good right now, the main difference between this period and the era after '93 is now they are willing to spend money. and alot of it. |

what is wrong with the world? 2 goals have been scored in a playoff game and neither was scored by an ex-flyer |

I disagree. Phillies have won 5 of the last 6 series against NL teams. The club is two trades away from freeing up close to $40 million and back in the mix. |

I don't think they're very far away from being a contender again. 10 teams make the playoffs now.
I just have no faith in RAJ making the right moves. Guy is a moron and still thinks advanced stats have no place in baseball.
Meanwhile, Billy Beane and the A's have the 2nd best OBP and runs per game along with the best WHIP and team ERA. They spend $100M less than the Phillies on players this year. |

We'll see. They've only just started to suck. Watch attendance drop, merchandise, etc. they needed to fire sale 2 years ago. theyre still digging. Haven't even scratched the late 90's |

Dont know if this is Leight
http://www.csnphilly.com/...schenn-our-first-priority
Seems like Hexy is willing to play hardball
Which I think we'll see lots more of, and frankly that's what they need to do.
Wouldn't be surprised if they target schenn at coots price - Just5
I wouldn't mind them tightening up the contracts some.
If you really think Hexy is playing hardball (which I'm not sure yet... was he part of the Amac deal for instance?) then it would likely mean Kimmo has played his last game as a Flyer. |

Their D has been weak all year and it's finally getting exposed against the best of teams.
Stolarz keeps reminding me of Pekka. I hope this kid can stay healthy, he's got stud written all over him. |

That goal was all Richards.
Guy can still play.
Chicago is really skating.
With that team in front of him, Crawford will never get his due. |

I think its ok to overpay in certain circumstances, but you need to be able to walk away sometimes. Even if it means hurting your team in the short term. |

I love Justin Williams. He's such a good player. He's always been such a good player in big games. His game 7 numbers are ridiculous. |

Homer played high stakes poker with Suter and Parise in particular and lost in those cases. I firmly believe Hexy will mirror Lombardi and resist the temptation of the blockbuster trade.
I do expect them to dabble in free agency, and thankfully the practice of sending a draft pick for negotiating rights to a UFA will finally end, IMO.

Lets not forget that Lombardi did make the moves to bring in Carter, Richards and Gaborik. Gaborik wasn't really a blockbuster, but it was a decent sized move.
The Kings got a lot better by being bad for a while and striking gold with Quick in the third round. |
