I don't buy that at all. I think character referred to a guys character on the ice and willingness to lay it on the line. I'm not sure Kane is a cancer. When you're 22 you think you know everything maybe that was the case. I'd take him on my team - dbell646
I really like Kane's play but I can see how he would clash with Sid, not to mention Sid is a raving racist. |

They are all 1000x better than what we have now, and would fit under the cap.
What FA's do you want to see them go after. - nbartley9
Iginla wouldn't fit under the cap as of now.
I'd kick the tires on Ryan Callahan, albeit an unlikely fit.
Jaro Halak
Radim Vrbata
Brian Boyle
Goc
I don't know... A lot depends on other moves. If they can create some cap space, it changes things a little. |

Why? Just because the city sucks doesn't mean they can't support a team. They have serious hockey fans there, the team will be fine. - canadianpenfan
The team will always suck, they will over pay UFA's dragging up salaries across the league. The Canadian dollar is going down, if it continues it will further hurt the club. It didn't work before.

Character is the same on the ice and off. If you don't have character off the ice, you don't have it on the ice. It's pretty simple. The kid is immature - make that very immature. Hell, there are 11-year old kids that are more mature than E. Kane. This, his character issues have been discussed many times by the national media.
You don't want to buy it because he is a potentially young budding star. If he didn't have issues, why would Winnipeg consider dealing him in the offseason? |

After our free agents leave he would fit if he makes 6 mil like he is making currently, Goc is total garbage, Boyle is going to be insanely expensive after they got to the Cup, Vrbata might be ok, but honestly for the money; Jussi maybe a better option.
I have always loved Cally but he has priced himself at a hilarious Wade Redden type of contract that could never work here. |

Immaturity issues are not character issues in my book. And yes I'd like to have him because he is a budding star. |

I love his style as well and think next to 87 he would be a stud. But not really an immature issue for me but there can only be so many type A's in the locker room. Not sure how he would feel being a 3rd wheel. He might want to be the super star on a team, that wont happen in Pitt. |

I think his chances of becoming a superstar are greater with 87/71 and he doesn't have to be in front of the media all the time. Also I know Pittsburgh isn't New York City but it's a hell of a lot more fun then the PEG. We don't really know what this guys issues are or if there are any. We just speculate from what we hear. A kid with that upside and speed and toughness would be great on the ice for the Pens. |

I agree 100%, I like him and Okposo. Id be curious what NYI would give him up for. THeir style is the type of wing 87 needs.
With Kane's potential though, he could go to a lot of teams and be the "attraction" some ppl desire that, no idea if he does or not. |

Interesting, but who are we giving up to get Stewart, Kane, Eberle, and Bickell? I see Letang, Neal, and Fleury gone, but none of our 2 highest prospects traded??

Wont have to worry about D or goalies with the amount of goals they'll score.
my realistic dream roster would be:
Kunitz-87-Okposo
BB-71-36
UFA-Sutter-Dupes
Adams-Goc-Vitale/Megna/Gibbons
7-58
Maata-Bortz
Despress-Orpik/England/Rookie

Here is my thought on that process:
Neal and Scuderi for Kane. Change of scenery for Neal and Kane. They may not take Scuderi though.
Letang and Bennett for Eberle
Samuellson or another prospect and a pick for C.Stewart.
Kumelin is an UFA
Fleury for RFA Reimer
Bickell is the one I'm a little perplexed on. Chicago will need to cut salary for Toews and Kane. He may come a little cheaper for a pick and a minor prospect. Not sure. |

I'm not convinced. He's a good player who has been saddled with crappy linemates. Not saying he's the answer, but as an RFA, they have some control over him.
I don't think he's a great fit here in a 3rd line role with undersized, slow players. No one is. If his wingers are upgraded, it's a different story. |
