Do we have any package that could get Kane? - dbell646
Mario mentioned character as something that is needed. Evander Kane doesn't fit that mold. Not even close. |

I'm just curious what he's done to deserve that label? |

I was always a chris stewart fan, but his inconsistency is not what the pens need. Maybe playing with Sid or geno can spark something for him, but I wouldn't hold my breathe.
How about Neal to the yotes for Hanzal, or some deal centering around that - drummer829
They can throw in Max Domi... It seems like his dad spends enough time in Mario's box, it will be good for everyone. (They're not throwing in Max Domi). |

Pretty sure an NHL Sports package would get you all of his games to watch |

No i don't, but he's not what he used to be. Every dog has his day and his has come. - canadianpenfan
Pre-Bruins attack Brooks was playing fantastic hockey, and I think he played well in the playoffs until he got hurt, but what he means in that locker room is immeasurable. |

Well you have to replace that. You can't keep signing these 30+ deals. |

His character has been in question not only by the media members in Winnipeg, but by national pundits. His own coaching staff has questioned his attitude/character. |

How do you replace that?
30 honestly is not that bad for a dman, considering they do not hit their stride until normally 26 or 27.
If he would take 3 mil a year I would sign him in a second.
Scuds cant be part of this team going forward, if he is that will be a disaster. |

You try living in Winnipeg and see how it affects your character. Imagine Buffalo with way less to do. |

I'm just looking for specific examples because all I can recall is the pic with him holding the money up like a phone. I think older folks are disconnected with the youth. Yes they are a little arrogant and can rub people the wrong way but I don't think that means they're bad in the locker room or don't give it a 100% on the ice. |

He will be 34 in September. They didn't break the character mold after Orpik. There are plenty of guys who can be leaders. I love Orpik but its time to move on IMO |

They are all 1000x better than what we have now, and would fit under the cap.
What FA's do you want to see them go after. |

He was a healthy scratch late in the season when Winnipeg was still in the play-off hunt. It made national talk shows. Paul Maurice didn't go in depth with the reason. This is a turd you can't take a chance on - only because he is a young potential budding star. If Mario brings up character, he can't come back and accept Kane as a member of this franchise. |

I get that Orpik is great in the room and a leader, but this team has fallen apart in the last handful of playoff seasons. I mean how impactful could he have been? |

I am just fighting the inevitable, but I would not mind having him a year or 2 more at the most. He can still skate, not like he used to but he can still play; and you know what they say "if you can play you can play". |

x2, still cant figure out why they brought a team back there. In 5 yrs it will be one of the joke franchises when Kane, Ladd and Wheeler are gone and replaced by plugs.
If Scuds can leave, Im fine with Orpik for under 3, but I think that's unlikely. |

I don't buy that at all. I think character referred to a guys character on the ice and willingness to lay it on the line. I'm not sure Kane is a cancer. When you're 22 you think you know everything maybe that was the case. I'd take him on my team |

Why? Just because the city sucks doesn't mean they can't support a team. They have serious hockey fans there, the team will be fine.

if leafs still had kulemin signed id say:
reimer + kulemin may do the trick.
but hes a UFA now.
leafs wouldnt move JVR for Neal, to be honest. - big_dion
This wouldn't work even if Kulemin weren't a pending UFA IMO.
Not much difference between Fleury and Reimer. I take Fleury without question.
Why would Pittsburgh move a 30-40 goal scorer for a third line guy that can't reach 10 anymore?
