Edler + to Boston for Malcolm Subban +
If with have both his brothers, PK will come... - Jim_Robson
No thanks. I do think there is a opening for Edler in Boston. But I think Smith is a better target. Hell if Vancouver doesn't eat salary Boston isn't getting edler or anybody else making any kind of money. Peter Chirelli has sure put their nuts in a vice for next yr |

I would have taken that trade you offered for Couture and without asking any questions.
Nabbing a 25 year old 1C for a banged-up 2C on the downside of his career, a 3rd liner, and a #6 which will likely end up as a 2nd liner in about 3 years time (if everything goes well)? I say absolutely.
1Cs are notoriously difficult to get and the Sharks would be ruining their future to make that trade. We on the other hand would be able to transition the Sedins to the 2nd line as early as next season, provided we bring in at least 1 established top6 winger for the Couture line. - AlexF
Colture is a weak 1st line center if he is one at all |

Nice little article.
It is going to be an interesting summer. The team is need of a shakeup but it can go a few different ways depending on who is traded or bought out and who is brought in. And if nothing happens, I don't think the team will perform as bad as they did last season but making the playoffs wouldn't be a given.
Torts is a diva. Doesn't want reason to necessarily influence his decisions.

Can't believe the amount of (frank)in idiots on twitter wanting AV back - WTF - Scotty Bowman couldn't win with this group as they are. We need change not a coach who couldn't get it done.

I always thought Bowman was over-rated. It seems he's either inherited excellent or good teams on the upswing, which he was then able to put over the top, just like any good coach should
Case in point, definitely in Montreal in 1971-72, where he had Lafleur, Cournoyer, Dryden, Lafleur, Lapointe, Lemaire, Mahovilch, Robinson, Shutt etc - this group pretty much remained together until 78-79. How many coaches had the benefit of having such a crop of talent?
Next, he inherited a Buffalo team which also had several years of top notch players (Perreault Gare, Sauve, Playfair, Ramsey, Savard, Korab, Rick Martin etc), . And lastly, he took over Detroit, just when they were breaking out with lots of quality talent - Federov, Ciccareli, Mark Howe, McCarthy, Probert, Konstantinov, Kozlov, Yzerman. Again, this group pretty much remained together for approx 7-8 years, with some turn over with guys like Shanahan, Hasak, Hull being added. Once again, how many coaches have been fortunate to be able to work with this type of talent?
Of course he then attached himself to another up and coming Chicago team, full of young stars
I don't understand why people feel he is some sort of wizard/genius. I'm not saying he wasn't a good coach, I'm just saying that a lot of coaches would have had similar success if they had taken over these teams at the same time they were finally turning things around.
I wonder how well he would do if he had to coach some of the perennial non-contenders
Edit: and yes, it kind of pisses me off |

Ahh that's a whole bunch of not giving credit where it's due. You probably feel like Sather was a crappy coach and GM because his owner won a game of Bakarat and they got lucky in 2 drafts?

Kesler, Hansen, 6th Overall
for
Logan Couture and 1st rounder
edit: I already regret making this trade offer. - Gullzy
Logan and Couture and the 1st rounder? Not too shabby. Three for three. |

Stumbled onto Sports Illustrated's joint site called Fan-Sided, and they have the funniest first round mock draft I have ever seen. Notable mentions include that Michael Dal Colle dropping all the way to 9th, while the canucks draft Haydn Fleury.

I realize he was a great coach, but I think people who treat him like he was some sort of savante, have not really looked at his background, but simply know about all the cups/awards he's won.
Do you really think a good coach would not be able to be as successful with the same elite rosters which Bowman inherited??? I mean, did you review the core-rosters which were noted?
P.S. I'm not trying to disrespect Bowman, I'm just saying that he's not the Messiah of Hockey as a lot of people think |

There are plenty of people to disrepect Bowman, he wasn't very well liked by his players. I remember a quote from Steve Shutt "you hate Scotty Bowman for 364 days a year and on the 365th day you get a Stanley Cup Ring" |

Guy also led Pittsburgh to a cup win. Probably helps your argument. Wonder what he could have done with 2011 Canucks.
