I don't think they have had much success IMO. The evaporate in the playoffs(Tony Gallagher).
I think he does more harm for the team than good. Hockey is about team work . Most teams this year are talking about 4 man units. Yeah he scored 60 goals but the rest of the team has done Dyck all. #putallyoureggsinonebasket.
He could get a gold mine of young players that could help Wsh future.
If he goes back to the KHL , then the Caps are ski rude. - VANTEL
My interpretation of success is obviously different than yours or Tony G's, who's a (frank)in idiot if you ask me. They had three years of 100 plus point seasons and took the Pens to game seven in the second round when they won the Cup.
Sure I'd trade him if the price was there, everyone should be tradable, but you've gotta get the right offer. I definitely wouldn't trade him just to get him outta town, he's a world class goal scorer, albeit a lazy one. |

I agree, you don't trade that kind of talent, not unless you're getting Malkin, Crosby, Tavares, or Stamkos back in the deal. No matter the amount of prospects/roster players/draft picks you get back, you'll never replace him and you set yourself back years doing so. You need to surround that sort of player with talent that can compliment him, and help cover up for his weaknesses.

You had Semin and Backstom playing there for years . Both are very offensive players.
When you have a guy hanging around center ice and playing 2 minutes on the PP you don't need a sniper like the guys you mentioned? A Willie Mitchell or any slug can fire a puck to a waiting OV . I know if I was a roster player on the club I would be thinking this guy makes 9 mil and waits at center while I make 3 Mil and have to fight to get the puck up to him. |

If it was as easy as you're portraying it, putting the puck in the net, why is he the only one he scores 50 plus in a year? His ability to fire that puck is second to none in the league. |

No question he is one of the top two players in the world in firing the puck.
51 goals is excellent
28 assist for a guy who plays almost every minute of a PP is weak.
-35 +\- is horrible. I blame that to his lack of of helping out in the D zone. Most of the time his team is at a disadvantage.
His team goals were 235 and his teams goals against is 240.
As I see it he is a slack ass that turns on the jets when there is an offensive chance and slacks when when they are in the defensive mode.

I always thought he was glowing.
Loved that sweaty sheen, kept thinking of him saying, "Why is it where ever I go, people are burning toast?" and cursing about every other gm being stupid because they don't want our players. |

Would Umberger /Kassian be good line mates? |

Umberger's too old for this team, not interested. |
