Kesler likes filling holes, especially one's married or engaged to others. - A_SteamingLombardi

Quiet weekend. - LeftCoaster
No kidding. It's crickets in here.
We need the Benning announcement to spice things up in here. |

I can't remember the last time there's been this many front office openings and potential player movement. Can hardly wait for the draft. |

Without looking, who are the 3 longest serving GMs in the NHL?
And yes, can not wait till the draft. It's like the playoffs for teams that don't make the playoffs! |

Haven't looked, my guess would be Glen Sather, David Polie, and either Dean Lombardi or Doug Wilson. |

As of today I'd have to say - Glen Sather, Doug Wilson & Lou Lamoriello? |

Nice work on Poille! Lou and Holland were the others though. Lou's been there since '87! |

Ya I looked it up after my guess. McPhee had to be up there too along with Rutherford from Carolina.
Six new GMs in 2014. |

Well suck me sideways. At least I got one right. Not bad for 4 beers in and not Googling.
Totally forgot about Lou and Holland. |

I'm late to the game and saw the answer but in all honesty Lou and Holland were my first 2 thoughts. I probably would have guessed Sather as the other. |

Please don't talk like this. It makes me feel like I'm in an Oilers thread. |

If Canucks could move Kesler for a 1st and a decent young player, and Edler/Bieksa for a first and a decent young player I would be over the moon. Use Hansen, Markstrom, Schroeder and anyone else from the farm save Corrado and Jensen to sweeten the pot. - 1970vintage
Ottawa and Anh have a history. Kesler is probably a better fit though. If we can't get both firsts and a roster forward or the Ott 1st, Etem and a roster 1st, I'd walk away from a duck deal.
Bruins apparently a 5.8 mill cap overage for next yr. 8 mill to sign 8 players which include krug, Smith and Iginla. Iginla is gone for sure. And a 3.5 mill offer sheet for Smith? Comp is a 2nd rounder. |

Hope Smoke: Bob McKenzie: ”I think the Van process is too far along for this news to impact it” … ”Benning had his second interview with Vancouver over the last 24 hours.” … ”It may or may not be an issue if the Bruins want to release Benning prior to or after the draft”
 - LeftCoaster
Yeah, I'd quit ifi was benning. And I imagine half the front office would as well. |

I don't see Benning offer sheeting his former employer. It would be awesome it he did, though. |

Agreed.
Garrison isn't playing too bad as well. Unfortunately Reimer and Scrivens were the "best" Canadian goaltenders that they were able to convince to play. |

he would be the perfect guy to do it, knowing the financial constraints etc, perhaps he might hold some animosity towards the franchise if they do in fact hold him until the draft

If Trevor gets permission from the Bruins to go ahead and talk to one of their key employees and then a month later turns around and screws them , then Trevor won't be doing business in the NHL much longer. Just saying. |

@jjboggs
So there have been rumors about Kesler to the #cbj and now we have rumors of Umberger to the #canucks. This is why I like to wait.
