Looks like Burrows blew his knee. Got to love these meaningless tournaments.

You might want to stock up on that moonshine you've taken a fancy to. Could be a very interesting summer.
- Marwood

Don't get me wrong, the Apple Pie moonshine is tasty but I don't think I'd drink it on the regular. It's only 40 proof, which is like a dollar a proof. There are far more things out there that are a better value that I enjoy for that kind of money

There are 2 options:
A) Make Progress & move forward.
Or
B) Make excuses & get left behind.

I'm always choosing Plan A.

Plan B was Gillis' strategy.

Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: The Bruins need to get faster and quicker. They need to find another defenseman who can make a quick transition out of their own zone with a pass or rushing the puck. Coyotes Keith Yandle and Canucks Alex Edler fit that profile. If Bruins assistant GM Jim Benning ends up being the Canucks new GM, he would know what is in the Bruins system, which would help make a deal easier. Yandle has a $5.25 million cap hit and Edler has a $5 million cap hit. Both would require high price to get them. Both could ask for Brad Marchand, who has three years left at $4.5 million.

I just threw up in my mouth.

If the Canucks acquired Marchand I would seriously have to consider cheering for another team.

Benning met with canucks yesterday before Shero got fired by the Pens today. Hopefully they locked him. Pens job is sure appealing.

Yeah, that job would better than the Canucks job IMO. Purely based on team situation, but Vancouver is a great place to live in as well.

It makes it interesting. Does Linden strike now and lock up Benning right away or does he take his chances on losing Benning and take a run at Shero?

Shero made some decent deals, but his draft record is enough alone for me to say no.

I wonder how much that has to do with scouting. Shero pulling off trades, Gilman managing the cap, and a good scouting dept. advising for the draft.

We were blaming Gillis for the drafting here, the GM is responsible for hiring and firing scouts so Shero is to blame IMO.

I like the way Linden seems to focused on hiring good talent evaluators(especially younger players who are more difficult to project).

The GM is 100% responsible for the scouting dept. I hope to hell there is major house cleaning there as well.

Pretty quiet on the interview front; WTF Linden, give us something here?
- LeftCoaster

Come on man, get with the times!

Fenton interviewed on Tues, Benning yesterday. Then you had had this:

“@canuckshockey: Trevor's mentioning Hunter Shinkaruk a lot when talking about the young guys. #Canucks #CanucksTownHall”

“@canuckshockey: Have had internal meetings re: prospects. Scouting org was changed last year, and feels results showed last year. #Canucks #CanucksTownHall”

“@canuckshockey: Trevor reminiscing he hasn't talked to Jim Benning for 25 years or so... until about a couple of days ago. #Canucks #CanucksTownHall”

Re: coaching. Landscape changes quickly. Laviolette one of the people he would have wanted to talk to. #Canucks #CanucksTownHall

Re: current team. Trevor says he thinks they're all good people. Says he talked to Shanny, and Shanny wants to change culture in TO. (1/2)

Alluded that Shanny may not be happy with some people there. Interesting. 2/2 #Canucks #CanucksTownHall

They're getting tired of his act, so it's no surprise that the writer suggests moving him.

I have no interest in Shero. He pulled off a few good trades which helped him win a cup, but his team was a massive playoff failure for years and he never addressed it. He had success because he inherited a team with Crosby and Malkin, who are arguably the two best players in the world since he took over the Penguins.

His first move was to take Jordan Staal ahead of Jonathan Toews. Remember how everyone drooled over the notion of Crosby, Malkin and Staal. Just think if it was Crosby, Malkin and Toews.

This year he had the opportunity to pick up Kesler, who could easily have been the difference for them, yet he couldn't muster the stones to pull the trigger.

Does all this sound familiar???
