It's just funny...he goes to malls, wal mart, restaurants playing the sax riff from Careless Whisper over and over.

I think Fowler has the higher upside because he's more naturally gifted, but I would take Lindholm too. He just doesn't seem to make many mistakes for such a young player.
- PhillySportsGuy

Think Fowler is to Yandle as Lindholm is to OEL.

Fowler is that weak defensively?

If they can get a top 4 Dman and trade Grossman for a pick or 2 I'd be OK if Timonen was used as an inexpensive ($2 million) bridge to the future.

Yandle's actually not that bad, lol. If Fowler can round out his game, I think he'll be a lot like him.

Lindholm just strikes me more as a guy that does everything equally well.

I think Yandle is pretty bad. Seems like almost every time I watch them, which isn't much, he is making a horrible turnover in his own zone that ends up in the back of the net.

Fowler I think deserves more credit than that

Because I'm bored..

My dreams for the off season.

-Trade Lecavlier one way or another.
-Resign Kimmo
-I think he fizzled out at the end as a result of playing the olypmics
-Move Grossmann for what they can get
-Do not move Luke Schenn unless its a great deal

Things to explore:
-Trade Amac at the draft and go after Niskanen or another D via trade
-Move Hartnell in a good hockey trade
-Bring in a cheaper forward and/or defender (D.Moore, Jussi depeding on cost)
- Anything that could be an upgrade without a ridiculous commitment in dollar or cap
-Sell high on Simmonds

Regarding Simmonds, I love his attitude and the way he plays the game. But man he has hands of stone and is an awful possession player. I believe his numbers were a product of the position he was put in.

- JFlyers00

Totally disagree with you about Simmonds... If anyones numbers were a product of the position it was Hartnell when he played on the line with G and Jagr... You won't get a good return for Hartnell... He is garbage... As far as everything else i would do, except maybe the Amac deal... Don't need to get rid of Amac to get Nisk... There are plenty of other moves to open cap space that would be more beneficial to the team...

Yeah, i saw that too. Was about to post it. I hope that Flyers and Gus at least were talking before this, and that they were on the same page that his future perhaps wasnt with the Flyers. Sure, a trade with another NHL club would perhaps bring something back (although not much). I just hope that the Flyers dont get gunshy in developing europeans, now that they got a Swedish scout and all.

I still think that Gus needed to play more games. Being a 25 year old defenseman, you need to play a lot,and in Gus's case I think he started to overthink a little bit due to the lack of playingtime.

Isn't Gus still an RFA? Does this mean the Flyers already told him they wouldn't qualify him? Do they retain NHL rights due to his RFA status now?

Wonder how long of a deal it is. If it's only 1 year, maybe they're using a year in the KHL instead of the AHL to develop? Or… maybe they have just moved on from him and have hopes on the other guys.

If im not mistaken, his rfa-status means that the Flyers have his rights in the NHL, but not outside the league. And since he doesnt have a contract for next year he is free to go. Didnt Ryan OReilly sign with a KHL club as an RFA before he resigned with the Avs? That sounds like a similar situation.

Of course, Gus and his agent might have done this to put some preassure on the Flyers, but he really doesnt have much leverage.

I know Gus has his faults, but I think he's an NHL player and even if he does the KHL for a bit, we haven't seen the last of him in this league. Flyers get dinged for seemingly not being patient with development, yet here's a guy that they have been patient with, but in the end just decided not to play him over a long stretch to see what he really had. Too short of a leash for my liking.

I agree, but at least it was a move in the right direction for the Flyers. They really need to have at least a few players around 1million in caphit to afford the humongous contracts they like to hand out.

But we still dont know if the Flyers had any input in his decision.
